Don't get your hopes up!

I decided to book this hotel because I stayed at a sister hotel in 2015 which I had an amazing time and figured I'd have the same experience this time . they used to be named Barcelo but now it changed to Occidental and I can tell you a lot has changed more than just the name . The food is repetitive and bland. And it almost seems like they leave the food until the tray is complete then refresh it. The main buffet albatross has dress codes that seem to only need to be followed by the Americans and non-Hispanic customers. And if you don't leave a tip at the table you get rude looks and guestures from you waiter. The mixed drinks are extremely watered down And taste terrible. We left the room with the tag for housekeeping to come tidy up. And by 3pm it still was not done. We called front desk for them to say that housekeeping will be up at 5 o'clock to take care of our room at 5 o'clock we left the room for housekeeping to take care of that and at 7 o'clock once we came back into the room it's still was not done we called again and they said they would send somebody right up . finally when somebody came they cleaned for all of five minutes and left us with zero towels which we have to call four times for towels that night Then shows they have at night were mediocre. And the music they played at the pool would put anybody to sleep. Where is the fun?!?! Where is the life ?!? I wish I could have gotten my money back. It was a waste!

Beautiful hotel all inclusive

Had an oceanfront view and a poolside view, both were great clean rooms. Staff was great and stop to help and accommodate with the needs of the guest. It's in a great location with entertainment at the hotel.

Horrible experience,waiting to hear from expedia

When arriving to the hotel I was taken off guard, the hotel looked nothing like the pictures on expedia. It was run down the rooms smelled like mold. I was given a room that was as big as a closet when I told the manager I had payed for a double room he replied with " that's our double room " I knew that was a lie. I reached out to expedia to explain what had happened and how I was very upset with my booking, spent 2 hours over the phone for them not to fix a thing. I was given the same room once again. The next morning after giving the hotel a horrible review the morning manager gave me a call asking to please fix things and try to make our stay better. We gave her a chance and she gave us the room I had already payed for which they did have to begin with. I was happy with the room and thanked the manager for fixing the situation. The food was horrible I'm Mexican and I was disappointed. To say the least all I ate was beans w/ cheese and jalapeños for the most of my stay. if you are trying to spend time in the ocean this place isn't for you! The beach is very tiny and you can only go in so far it's by the boat docks so it's dangerous. The pool was a decent size, the entertainment was great the staff try very hard to keep everyone happy. I thank the waiters/waitress & the entertainment staff for making my stay better great people. I'll think twice before booking with Expedia again.

Memorable Trip

Pros: Everything was easy to get to, and there was always help nearby, so we didn't waste any of our precious vacation time trying to figure anything out.
Cons: The only thing that caught me off guard was the expectation to "dress up" for dinner. Luckily we had clothes that worked.
Location: We visited beaches, went to Chichen Itza, jet boated across the lagoon, sailed to Isla Mujeres, braved the flea market, and walked all around town.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Occidental Costa Cancun. The staff was helpful and friendly, the food was great, and everything was immaculately clean. Our room was very comfortable, we easily found help when we needed it (directions, translation, advice), and there was always something fun going on. Our flights were at odd times, but that wasn't a problem either. A great bonus was the Expedia rep (not sure what his job title was) who made the phone calls for us confirming our activities and return airport shuttle, and arranging an activity that we decided to add.

Nice hotel, excellent staff

Me and my husband had an amazing time in Cancun. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

The food was terrible. They stole from our room. They lie a lot and everything was just super unorganized.

The hotel very convenient for transportation

The hotel have a beautiful view to the beach , the restaurant have great foods, every day they change the menu , they had very good chiefs cook and different entertainment every night at the pool, the staffs always charming and good services ,

Vet disqpointing sister getaway

The beach was beautiful and the waitstaff at the restaurants were wonderful with good food. The front desk were rude and NOT helpful. The Expedia rep was terrible and never at the hotel. He charged us to print our excursion pass because we booked online instead of buying it with him. The hotel rooms were very noisy throughout the nite and not relaxing at all. Our hotel safe "broke" 3 different times so we couldn't leave our room until the service person came to fix it and missed dinner reservations. This was supposed to be a relaxing trip to celebrate my little sister turning 40 and it turned out to be disappointing
