DO NOT STAY HERE!Posted Oct 17, 2017
Pros: The beach was the best thing about this hotel
Cons: Hotel management and staff on how to communicate with guest.
Location: Everything is far, be prepared to pay for taxis everywhere!
I travel about 3-4 times a year and this is by far the worst all-inclusive hotel I’ve stayed at. I stayed at other Riu hotels and had a great time. However, after staying here I will avoid RIU brand like the plague. Let me tell you why. I paid for a family vacation; 4 rooms x 7 days a hefty price to not enjoy the accommodations Hotel staff and management are aggressive and speak to you as if you were in prison. We were throwing a football around the pool for about an hr. The lifeguard never saw us and never said anything. Suddenly hotel security comes and instead of asking us to stop throwing the ball around. He demands to know who the football belongs too. Then says “if we don’t stop throwing the ball around he’s going to kick us out of the hotel.” Its and all-inclusive hotel and people are going to drink and get carried away. My brother had a few drinks and was being a little loud. He was accompanied by 9 family members at the buffet who were trying to feed him so he could sober up. Instead of asking him or us to quite him down or take him to his room. The director Victor Douton takes him to the security room, uses profanities and calls the Mexican police. THE MEXICAN police are you kidding me!!!! I was sober and demanded to speak to the director, especially since I paid for the rooms and was willing to take him to his room. I was ignored and my brother was about to go to a Mexican jail for being tipsy at an all-inclusive hotel. I have more but it cuts me off.

Need a vacation from my vacationPosted Oct 15, 2017
Very disappointing stay, this place is for spring breakers. Our room smelled heavily of mildew and the ceiling fan was loud and unbalanced. Housekeeping was poor from not filling the soap dispenser, not changing the bed sheets right down to not cleaning the floors . They also would not give us any extra pillows “said that a king size bed only gets 3 pillows”, But a complaint to the front desk and late that evening a extra pillow was provided. In the buffet hall the food is blah and repetitive. We had one server by the name of Hugo that was a pure delight! The other service were rude had if you were a burden. We had beer spilled on us by one of the servers with not only no apology but no napink to wipe it up with. The steak house was not like pictured in the offering. The portions were skimpy and served cold. The Mexican restaurant smelled so strongly of mildew it was impossible to eat dinner in there. The outside lunch buffet was also lacking in selection and didn’t require people to cover up which was absoultley discussting to me, something I do not want to see while eating are exposed people in their thongs walking around in a lunch hall. Save it for the beach! While on the beach and in lounging areas we had servers take our drink orders, only to never return with drinks. We vacationed in Riu Paradise Island Bahamas this past April and love it. We came into this vacation with very high expectation that our stay here at Riu Caribe Cancun and we are nothing but disappointed!

Beautiful hotel on beach could be betterPosted Oct 8, 2017
Pros: Staff, Pool and grounds outside.
Cons: Beds are terrible like sleeping on floor. With topper on mattress was better not great. Food at outside restaurant was bad.
Location: Only went shopping once. Didn't do anything but lay by pool all day.
Nice hotel, wonderful staff. 1st room they put us in was not what we booked and it was noisy and hot. They did upgrade us to better room. Beds were like a rock. Asked for topper and it was better. The restaurant outside was bad. Mexican restaurant ok. Didn't try Asian one. The main buffet was good. Staff friendly and pool was fabulous.

It was funPosted Oct 2, 2017
They forgot to give me my envelop at the reception desk which had the key for the towel rental. Other than that, the staffs were friendly and pleasant. Staffs engaged guests in fun activities. The room was clean but the bathroom had minor stains. There were four different restaurants that were open at a different time. They have variety of food choices for those who were picky like me. It was worth the stay. I enjoyed my time there. There were a lot of fun activities on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great hotelPosted Sep 24, 2017
I stayed at the big and new Riu last year and I liked their staff better only because there was more so they were constantly making rounds if you needed anything the help was immediate. But I do have to admit I like this hotels pools better and their part of the beach was cleaner and nicer but it may have been the time of year, I'm not sure. Last year we came during the Summer and this year around we came during the Fall. But if you want to save you and your spouse $1,500 compared to the other one it's not a bad place !

Quick GetawayPosted Sep 23, 2017
Spent an extended weekend here in September of 2017. Maybe it's me, but I prefer the east side of the island's ocean with deep turquoise water and waves. But the hotel is very nice with all the amenities you'd expect from a RIU. The food is not top shelf but was of good quality. The pools and bars were a 10/10.
