Peaceful

Posted Dec 12, 2017
This hotel is quiet, great for families with very small kids, older people or who can't swim. The water is very different from the Cancun's hotelzone area, there're no waives, it is very shallow, so can't swim much, seaweed grows in the deep, which is good for snorkeling. We saw fish, crab, lobster and a huge star fish. Also, because of quiet waters, free rentals for kayak, sailboats and snorkeling gear from the activity center. Even tho hotel cleans, the beach is covered in seaweed. The sand is nice and white, enough empty loungers with constant service from bar/food attendants. Limited number of rooms with ocean view, some three and four stories high. Only 2 restaurants, one Italian, the other is located on the beach w/view, but had very limited food choices, everyday same for breakfast, lunch and from the menu. We enjoyed taking the free shuttle to The Royal Sands, a much different resort. Bigger, nicer, louder, a lot more food options and unforgettable turquoise ocean w/out seaweed.

Dirty and expensive

Posted Dec 4, 2017
Right when I get to my room it was a lizard on my bed! That was very scary I told the hotel about it and send someone but he couldn’t found it. They didn’t change our room .Hotel restaurant way too expensive! Beach was a lot of black stuff they don’t clean it everyday. It was clean only in the last day of my stay. With the same price you could definitely find something better.

Dear Areli, Thank you for taking the time to share your vacation experience at The Royal Cancun. Our resort is located in a tropical setting, so occasionally we’ll encounter fauna that is typical of the ecosystem on the resort's property. And with amenities such as open-air balconies, these "uninvited guests" do occasionally appear in the rooms. We do maintain a regular pest control service at the resort and continually receive high marks in housekeeping and cleanliness at the property. We regret that we’ve failed to meet all of your expectations and we hope that you give us the chance to welcome you back once more to enjoy a vacation that's up to the high standards we've held for our Royal Resorts owners and guests for 40 years. Warm Regards.

Thanksgiving Getaway.

Pros: The people, the personal service, the size, the food and drinks, tennis court, pools, beach activities and our families favorite: beach volleyball!
Cons: The ac was loud in our upstairs room of our villa. We would love some Night entertainment (music or dancing.)
Location: The beach is calm and safe for kids, there is tons to do during the day for all ages. $1 dollar bus ride just about anywhere.
This was our third time to the Royal Cancun and it just keeps getting better! There were two families with us and we will be back next year. We do not own a timeshare and just book online every year and the value at the Royal Cancun can not be beat. Food is great for an all inclusive...you are not eating 5star, but all 11 of us were happy and full each day and night. (Tip: order chocolate cake from room service) Travel to Captains Cove and Hacienda for dinner- it is included. The rooms are great for families--the two bedroom two bath 2story is amazing, only neg our a/c was loud and kept us up some. Now the best part the people. Everyone is so nice. We love Carlos with beach activities and this year his helper Abel. All 11 of us kayaked, paddle boarded, snorkeled, and new this year sailed! There is so much to do at the resort. Our favorite beach waiter is Daniel and close 2nd Carlos....you can not go wrong with these guys they are awesome and work extremely hard! At the beach bar you have Eder and Manuel who we also great! We went parisailing this year right from our dock which was very convenient. We spent a day at the Sands and played in the waves and collected shells. It is beautiful there, but when you have little kids a day is perfect or you'd be paniced the whole time so while our beach is not as pretty it is more relaxing. Favorite drinks: ticket to fly, cranberry mojito, prices sands, white russian. Lastly, these people work so hard...TIP them!

Nicely kept hotel but beware of the staff and host constantly bugging you to go to their timeshare presentation. They haggle you to go so they can get bonus points and make your vacation very uncomfortable and at the end of when you are checking out charge you for taking care of your children while you've just sat through a very gruesome 2 hours of your vacation being pushed by their timeshare reps. Now I will never go to a resort that has this timeshare presentation.

Dear Jack, Thank you for your review. We're so sorry for the experience you had with our sales team. It is definitely not our intent to upset our guests and we're disappointed that you felt that the time spent with them was not worthwhile. Many guests choose to become Royal Resorts members because we offer spacious accommodations with outstanding service. Our resorts have been the home to many satisfied guests for more than 40 years and we are proud of the services that we offer to our valued members. However, we understand that time spent on vacation is valuable and that vacation ownership may not be for everyone. We hope that you will reconsider one of our resorts for your future vacation needs. Warm Regards

Very pleasant hotel to stay on the beach

Posted Nov 12, 2017
Pros: Hotel staff and access to the beach.
Cons: Kitchen and bathroom need an upgrade - they look old - though are very well maintained.
We had a delightful stay at The Royal Cancun. From the moment we entered the hotel to the moment we left, hotel staff was very helpful and caring. As soon as we finished the check-in formalities, Armando - our hotel concierge took over and showed us the amenities at the hotel while taking us to our room. Without any request from our end, our room was upgraded to a room facing / on the beach. Armando showed us our room and explained all the amenities available at the Hotel and restaurants which we might like to visit. There was no pressure or selling of any sort. Kitchen is fully stocked, though felt the kitchen appliances were old and need an upgrade. Though there is mini-store within the Hotel, we did take the bus to Walmart - it was quite a fun ride for us with kids and also the bus stop is outside the hotel - we took a taxi back to the Hotel (costed 140 pesos) We did exchange USD into Pesos at the Hotel itself, as it was quite convenient and also the exchange rate is comparative. I would recommend paying for all tours and shopping using pesos. There is a sports and arts area, we can get beach towels and any sports gear free (available). My wife and 10 year old tried their skills at painting art work :-)
