There must be better alternatives.

As a frequent traveler, I was surprised when the hotel could not accommodate early check in. We waited in the lobby for over 3 hours, with no updates. Every time I asked about the status of the room, I was told "they are still cleaning the rooms." And this was after I called the night before to make sure that we could do early check in, and was told yes. A few minutes after 3, we were given room keys. The room was clean, basic, and the bed was comfortable. The curtains were a bit ripped. No issues until I asked about a late checkout and was told by a lady at the front desk with stains on her shirt, "sorry, we're all booked up." BS but whatever. Can I have a shuttle ride at 12? "No, sorry he won't be available till 1 or maybe 2." Seriously??? This place advertises a shuttle service, but it is some unmarked minivan that apparently will be available whenever. I again sat in the lobby till 2:39...and no one else came into the lobby. Fully booked up my behind. Anyways, finally I got offered a paid taxi-ride if the driver did not show up soon, but he arrived at 2:39. Overall, customer service could be vastly improved. Like, total overhaul and re-training. Just like clean rooms, good customer service is a basic expectation.
