DONT Do It

I read the reviews and knew what I was in for but gave it a try because I was only staying one night and I'm really not a picky person. Our first room smelled like cigarettes but I didn't think much of it until later in the night it became apparent our "neighbors" were smoking in their room which caused our room to fill with the smell of smoke. No big, we got another room. The second room smelled worse of stale smoke and cologne (I guess in an attempt to cover the smoke smell). We immediately booked a room at the Sonesta (next door) for literally $20 more. The extra $20 was beyond worth it!! I can't say enough good things about the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was the Fourth of July so the young lady at the front desk was running the hotel solo. She called her manager who was off duty in an effort to get the situation figured out. All in all, there are far better options in the area at only a small increase in price. If you're able to spend a little more I say go with another hotel for sure.

Temporary stay

Staff was nice, facility/room were gross

There was a stench in common areas. Not sure if it was due to construction or not, but doubt it. Carpet in room was sticky, which is just unacceptable.

Good location near Galleria

Nice place, right off the freeway close to Galleria. Breakfast only includes cold items with a beverage. If you are staying longer than a day, you must request your room to be cleaned, as they only clean once a week.

No ice, really?

Pros: Location excellent
Cons: Get an ice machine.
Overall an acceptable hotel. Usual issues, hair in a clean towel, really old spoiled stalling soap. But the capper was no ice. When asked, the staff told me they had no ice machines and recommended go across the grass to the hilton next door. I was assured they have ice. Really, go steal my ice from another hotel? Incredible!!

Good hotel, close to Lakewood Church

What I enjoyed about this hotel is that it is very close to food. There are lots of food choices around here. The reason we stayed here was because we were going to Lakewood Church to see Joel Osteen and it was very convenient. The room was clean enough but I could have gone with a much better continental breakfast.

Okay hotel to stay

This is a good hotel if you stay for a few days and you just need a place where to sleep.

Convenient Location

I would recommend this hotel if you are going to Houston to do errands, paperwork or something specific around The Galleria area. Obviously, I got what I paid for so I can't complain. In general, it is an old building, no housekeeping service, terrible smell and I really don't want to think about how clean the sheets and the towels were. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff, they were very friendly.

Not bad for budget travel

Not bad for a cheap place, the air con in my room wasnt the best and the tv had awful reception, the bed was good though Nice and close to the galleria

Old place in good llocation

Pros: Location.
Cons: Needs update/remodel of the inside.
Location: Galleria downtown shopping is within walking distance, if shopping is your forte. Easy on and off to freeway.
It was a very old and tired place stuck in between two newer high rises, Sheraton and Royal Sonesta. The only good feature of the place is that the location is easy to downtown.
