Our favorite hotel in Houston.

Only issues was that only one elevator was functioning due to a lighening strike and a gifted bottle of champagne came without the card/note advising who ot was from

Yippee, thank you for making Hotel Derek your favorite hotel in Houston. It was a real bummer that mother nature decided to have a lightning storm over the holidays and that our hotel was the target. Certainly we are thankful that no one was hurt however our elevators didn’t fare as well. Unfortunately the timing of the stormy weather was not optimum compounded with the fact that our local purveyors took the holiday off which delayed our ability to get the additional two elevators working. Although we did have two other elevators available, we know it was an inconvenience. We invite you to come back as all elevators are up and running. Perhaps the champagne was from a secret admirer?

Hotel Drake ok

My Wife and I stayed at the Derek for NYE. It was very disappointing. They were completely booked, only one elevator was working. They nickeld and dimed me so there was no real savings. Someone on our floor was arrested in the middle of the night. The management did nothing to compensate for all of the problems and their shortfalls.

Great Hotel!

I stayed here for one night and was completely satisfied. The room was beautiful and spacious and the view was nice. I ordered room service and it was delicious except the desert tasted sour so I didn't eat it. That's the only negative I would have apart from the $30 overnight valet parking. I feel like that could be reduced some, but the porters did an excellent job and once I was ready to leave all I did was call down and my car was ready every time! Great stay at an excellent price!

Very nice hotel....definitely a good place to spend new years! The staff was very friendly and being in the galleria area was nice.

The hotel was nice, the staff wasn't awful just expected more from a four star hotel. Not to mention they only had one working elevator.

Glad you like the ultra hip and cool Hotel Derek. On your next visit we'll tell mother nature to stay away! No lightening storms please. Luckily we had 2 elevators working and all four within a couple of days. We know it was inconvenient and I'm sorry for that. We do hope to see you again soon!

Two of the three elevators broken

The wait for a elevator was extremely long as only one was working for the entire hotel. The other guest there was a very ghetto crowd. Thugs not wearing shirts. The food and drinks were pretty good and pricey. Not sure what brought in the low class guest. Definitely would never stay here again.

Only issue: two of the three elevators were down making it take three times as long to get to one's room or the lobby. Beautiful hotel.

Nice hotel with a serious problem.

Cons: The cable TV selection needs to include NFL Network.
The card access system for the parking garage was a repeated annoyance. Of the 7 times I tried to use my room card to exit, I had to call for staff assistance to open the gate 4 times. I saw other guests having trouble with it, too. The excessive charge for overnight guest parking in the garage added insult to injury.

Dirty room and horrible service.

We arrived to the hotel and had a 30 minute wait to check in. The lineup was absurd and they were understaffed. 40 minutes later we finally got to our room and our bathroom was dirty. A towel was in the bathtub and garbage still in the waste basket. We let the front desk know and they wanted to get us a different room and said a bellboy would be up momentarily. We then waited 30 minutes for him to come up and switch our room. Horrible experience and I will not be staying with them again.
