really nice hotel ideally located

Posted May 30, 2017
We had a really nice stay. The only thing I would upgrade is the bathroom. Walk in shower is a must. But we were told it was planned, the same with the restaurant which could be upgraded. It seems that a new chef will be hired soon. The "concierge" is great and really try to do everything to please you I will highly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Houston.

Hey Jetsetter - you're pretty nice yourself! Thanks so much for the kind comments on our fabulous concierge - he really is a cut above the rest! I do have good news for you too, our guestrooms will be going under the knife later this year and our restrooms will be undergoing a major facelift. We can't wait to welcome you back during your next HTown visit!

Watch your shins they will bleed!

Posted Apr 2, 2017
The hotel Derek used to be a icon in Houston. Unfortunately it has gone down hill. The bar is dead. There is low energy in the hotel. The staff does their job. That's it. The bed is poorly designed so u hit your shins walking past (see pic) I left with bruises and cuts on both legs. In addition, my wife and I both booked a room there on the same day on accident and they didn't care at all land wouldn't work with us even though we were both there with friends 3 days. Why? They clearly need the money.

Ask Hagen, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with – we are here and we do care! I assure you the energy within the lobby and bar is typical abuzz, so I am not sure how to comment on that piece. Our platform beds have a very low profile design to complement the modern, sleek feel within our guestrooms – while we love them we are sorry to hear that you bumps your chins. We desperately need a second chance to have you back and to roll out the red carpet. Will you please reach out the next time your travels bring you back to Houston? Thank you for sharing your feedback with us – its valuable to our team.

Weekend Retreat

Posted Mar 31, 2017
The overall hotel is beautiful. That staff was perfect. They allowed me the pleasure to checkin early and gave me room with spectacular views overlooking 610 freeway toward the Galleria Mall. The vallet secvice is a must! They were very helpful an knowledgeable about the in and outs of the city! This is by far my favorite hotel in the city, the location, the views, the service...... I'm from Houston and I recommend this hotel to all my friends and family!

Too loud

Posted Mar 28, 2017
From decoration to music, everything was too loud. Beds were not comfortable and towels were bad quality. Service and staff was good.

Hey Jetsetter – so sorry that you didn’t like our jams or our style – we’re definitely not your traditional hotel! I’m thrilled that our staff was able to assist and accommodate during your stay however. We would love the opportunity to welcome you back during your next HTown visit!

Great weekend stay!

Don't let the phone staff detour you from booking. The phone staff seems unprofessional and uninformed for the rate this hotel charges, it was very frustrating getting consistent and accurate information from the folks who answer the phone, but the staff upon arrival and check-in are totally different. Glad I kept the reservation after bad phone experiences.

So glad you enjoyed your weekend at Hotel Derek, Rhonda! I’m thrilled that our Guest Services Team were able to assist you upon your arrival, although I’m disappointed with your experience before you arrived. This will be addressed and will be used as a training topic for our team in the future. I thank you for your patience and not letting your negative experience affect your whole stay. I wish all our guests are as nice as you Rhonda! We can’t wait to welcome you back for another HTown visit soon!

Fun, well connected hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2017 on Hotels
Great place, great staff. The mood is a little different from most hotels as are the guests, in a good way. Easy access to most of the city, and the freeways. Great place if you have clients spread over the city and want to be somewhere in the middle. Pro tip: next door is a fantastic breakfast place called Le Peep.

So not worth the price, even on Expedia.

Posted Mar 22, 2017
Pros: Location.
Cons: Everything seemed old and outdated, carpet in terrible condition, didn't seem well upkept.
Location: Near the Galleria off of 610, lots of things to do.
Room had light bulbs that didn't work, remote for the TV that didn't work and a broken sink. Beds were very worn in and the room's temperature was difficult to control at a comfortable setting. There were hardly any people there and very few cars in the garage, that should have been a give away. Will not be staying there again, don't waste your money.
