Beautiful and clean and close to shopping

Great check in experience. My room was ready and very spacious. The only issue was no tub. After doing a marathon a soak would have been wonderful. Other than that the staff was great.

Great Hotel Near Galleria

We had a great experience here! We stayed here for a date weekend (we live about 1.5 hours away from Houston so kind of a stay-cation). I have also attended a work conference here and that was great too. Back to this time, we stayed the weekend before Valentine's and the staff was great, the room was amazing and had a view, and when we got back from dinner and realized the hotel Starbucks was closed they even took us in the hotel "shuttle" ie Yukon and personally took us through the drive through and back. The location is amazing if you want to be in the Galleria area. Close to amazing restaurants and shopping. We will be back!

Excellent location

This was my second stay within a month, unfortunately the hotel received the team of the New England Patriots which must have been a great honour especially as they won the 51st Super Bowl. I wish they had told me when I made my booking two weeks earlier as I would have gone to another Marriott. Mainly because I was there on business, the business centre was closed all week, the bar near the lobby was used as a breakfast area and some of the staff were obviously stressed at having these big names in the hotel as I was twice asked to leave the lobby & hotel premises whilst waiting for a taxi as the hotel shuttle service had been stopped. Thankfully, a chat with the GM was accepted constructively and he spoke with his staff to ensure other guest were not hounded as fans. But all in all a great hotel, great location and the shuttle bus staff are a credit, very helpful and a great feature. I'll be back :-)

Disappointing overall

Pros: The staff was clearly well-trained, and the room was actually quite spacious, if a bit bare, and with a laughably outdated television.
Cons: The soundproofing, which I understand is a fundamental, architectural limitation. Stay clear until they rebuild the entire building, I suppose.
Location: It's located directly across the Galleria, which is only a hop over a crosswalk. The Westin at the Galleria, however, is located within the Galleria.
I don't normally write hotel reviews, because I normally get what I expect from a hotel. My stay here was not a normal one. I only stayed for one night here, because I flew into town for a wedding, and my party had rented a house for the remainder of my weekend. Even though the gentleman who checked me in, Ryan, was extremely courteous and helpful, the room itself was extremely disappointing, to say the least. I hadn't noticed any problems when I checked in, but after I came back from a night out around 2 am, the guests in the adjacent room began making a lot of ruckus, which was understandable, given it was a Friday night. What was not understandable, however, was the shocking lack of soundproofing between rooms. I had to endure hours of drunken tirades, unable to sleep. I considered asking for assistance, but it was early morning at that point, and I knew the only thing they could do was move me to another room, which I wasn't willing to do at 3 in the morning on the day of my check-out. I also noticed ugly green tape over the smoke detector installed directly over the bed, impossible to miss. Can Marriott not afford new smoke detectors, while they could afford Starwood? For a supposedly premium brand hotel, my experience was far from premium. Should've stuck with the Westin, which is now under Marriott management anyway.
