Charming Hotel in Downtown

Posted Aug 16, 2016
Pros: Location, breakfast, clean rooms, friendly staff
Cons: Room service menu
Location: Walking distance to all the theatrical entertainment and restaurants.
My boyfriend and I decided to have a staycation in Houston so we looked at all the upscale hotels in downtown. The Lancaster Hotel had great reviews and was in a great location. It's walking distance to Sundance theater which we frequent a lot. There is some cosmetic construction/maintenance being done to the outside of the building but on the weekend we stayed they weren't working. The valet parking on weekends is twenty dollars and during the week it is thirty. The front desk was very nice and helpful, even received a gold + member upgrade to a larger room on a higher floor. The bedding was so soft, it's no wonder we slept like babies. Plus we enjoyed the complimentary robes, also very comfortable. Most higher end hotels do not offer a FREE continental breakfast, but the Lancaster hotel does! It had a pretty impressive spread! The bistro attached had mediocre and overpriced food, I'd recommend skipping it and room service but walk a couple of blocks to a local restaurant. We would definitely consider staying here again for our next staycation.

Fabulous stay at the Lancaster Hotel

Posted Aug 6, 2016
Pros: Comfort, quiet at night, tasty breakfast included, super friendly and helpful staff.
Location: In the theatre district, walk to bus stop around the corner, about 7 blocks to Minute Maid park. Very safe, lots cafes on the way to ballpark.
Wonderful staff, extremely comfortable. Air conditioning and quiet location. Rooms very clean. Decor of the hotel is very nice, interesting history. Super helpful and friendly staff to chat with. Breakfast is fabulous! Bartender in the Bistro super friendly and helpful. There was some construction during the day but we were always gone for the daytime and back at evening. We used public transportation to and from the NASA Space Centre. Uber to Galveston but found out you can not get Uber in Galveston so took a taxi to NASA Space Centre then bus back to hotel which helped with the cost.

Beautiful hotel in the theater district.

Posted Aug 4, 2016
Pros: Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, beds and bedding very nice. Spacious bathrooms with everything you need
Cons: Hotel is currently doing some renovations but it was nothing that was disruptive at all.
Location: Less than 15 minute walk to Minute Maid park. A 5 minute walk to the aquarium and several theaters within a few minutes walk of the hotel.
Beautifully restored historic hotel right downtown. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices. No fitness facilities on site but passes provided to a fantastic gym just a block and a half away. Free hotel shuttle was a great bonus. Drivers drop off and pickup very efficiently. Friendly, helpful staff gave information and suggestions. Great bartender named Jeff very helpful. Business center on site was really good. Would stay here again.

Nice hotel

Rooms are too small but it's a lovely hotel. Hotel was under construction on the outside which was a little distracting and the people were very friendly.

Lovely renovated historic hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2016
Pros: The location was good.
Stayed in this lovely hotel in downtown Houston, renovations were still ongoing, however the rooms have been completed and are very tasteful. Unfortunately we were on the 2nd floor at the rear of the hotel and our windows were frosted, so no view and felt a little claustrophobic!! The room we had was also not very large compared to most of the hotels we have stayed in in the USA. Having said that, I would still recommend this hotel, it has a bar and nice restaurant and the complimentary breakfast was very good.

Super hotel. Very clean. Great service. Great attention to detail. About a mile walkable distance to the home of the Houston Astros or they have a free shuttle and will drive you down the street to the baseball game. Great hotel!
