Downtown Houston hotel

Used to be the Crowne Plaza downtown. Very nice hotel and I recommend the concierge they greet you at the front, Jorge Flores, to direct you to the best places to eat nearby. Beautiful interior. Romans a little small but luxurious.

Nice hotel, hard to get to

The Crowne Plaza is great, except directions via Google Maps GPS take you to the front of the building, not where your car pulls in. Because of all the one way streets, it takes forever to get back to the right place if you miss it. Also, it doesn't say "Crowne Plaza" anywhere on the hotel. I'm assuming they are changing the name? The lack of Crowne Plaza signage and the hard-to-find pull in spot for cars are the only negatives.

The bed is amazingly comfortable! The bathroom, I was Not impressed with! The sink was dirty, and the towel that was laid half inside the shower and half out of it, was already wet! And the bathroom door did not even close at all! When I mentioned it to the front desk as I checked out, the girl seemed careless and just said okay!

Don't go here, book the Double Tree

I couldn't find the place because they never told me they changed the name. Waited 10 minutes to get valet parking, no park yourself option. Bad signage where we should pull in, they made us move the care before they would even help. Room was not correct. I called and said we booked a king and she said they had none. I said that was what we booked, she said they had shut them down for construction. I said I didn't care, I wanted what I booked or would go down the street. So she said to come down and get a new key. As we had no luggage cart (none offered, we lugged everything down, she gave us a key, we lugged everything back to the SAME FLOOR. But at least it was a king, and the wallpaper was not peeling. There was a vacant space where the mini fridge was supposed to be, and I have meds that need refrigeration, oh well. and there were black marks on the new wallpaper from moving in the furniture. we got one sheet, one flimsy, yellowed "blanket" and another textured sheet that might have been a duvet cover, but with no backing or duvet. So I wore my clothes to bed because the heater never came on after I set it and I was freezing. The next day I went around with a crick in my neck from the "new bed" which was memory foam, but had not topper, so it was just HARD FOAM. Met someone in the elevator who had the same experience. Got in trouble with the cops when I finally got out, because it was not marked that the exit was onto a street that was one way.
