experience of a life time.

Pros: the size during the hurricane, and mostly the entire staff
we were there during Harvey. The manager and staff were the kindest and most gracious people imaginable. Because of this exceptional experience, we will always stay with Marriott.

Stayed for the weekend for my cousin's daughter' graduation. Went onto Expedia to get a better deal. Thought I was getting a great deal until it came to all the add ons. Check in was a breeze, I booked the room and they let my mom check us in since she got into town first. No problem there, luckily. So the hotel charges $8.00 per night, per vehicle to park there. We already booked a room there, shouldn't it be free to park?! And their explanation was that they usually don't charge for parking but they are making renovations. How is that our doing or responsibility?! Expedia didn't mention this when booking. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke even though it's a non-smoking room. Several floors were under repair and we could hear the jackhammer and other tools for construction early in the morning from our room. Our room had several bugs (beetles, mosquitos, etc). One mosquito which I killed had a belly full of blood and stained the bed sheets. The room only had one roll of toilet paper so we had to call for more. Who puts only one roll of toilet paper for a weekend stay? Breakfast wasn't free and was $7.25 per person. Why "cheaper" hotels like La Quinta are able to provide free breakfast and more "upscale" hotels like this can't is beyond me.

Not one of the renovated rooms-construction noise.

Pros: I took shuttle to & from airport. Driver was very nice!
I stayed in one of the older rooms that had not been renovated yet. It was a blast from the past - 70s decor. Room had an older coil mattress, which I kind of sunk into. The TV was the most up-to-date item. Hot water was a little slow, had to run faucet for about 10 minutes prior to receiving hot water. Construction was ongoing in the room above me. Construction noise was continuous until 18:00.
