Our stay at the Explorer hotel was enjoyable. Our room was comfortable, we enjoyed the spa facilities, and we appreciated the complimentary breakfast included in our booking. One note about our bathroom: it was very easy for water to spill out from the shower area which caused quite a bit of mess on the floor. We would have appreciate more towel or room cleaning service every day instead of at the end of our stay.

The person who met us at the counter was not very friendly. The rest of the staff was great. We didn’t need this but a bicycle repair station in the lobby was unique.

Very unique hotel with a hip and modern vibe. If you do skiing or biking, you will likely find this hotel very useful because there are many amenities for sports that I have not seen in other hotels, such as gear lockers and a workbench for repairs. The hotel is clean and the basic double room was of a good size. We always travel with our dog, so we were glad that he could stay with us. Parking was easy, and available both underground and open-air. The breakfast was adequate. There was a self-service egg counter. While it is in a peaceful location, it is of walking distance to the lake. The price was also quite good for the region. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Modern and stylish hotel
The size of the hotel is quite good and very comfortable. Simple is the best. Many storage area. We love the breakfast but bit crowded in self service area. Easy to reach the hotel even taking bus from station.

Walking distance to Königssee
More like Ibis hotel which is in favor of local outside sports fan. Better to drive your own car can here you will enjoy the beautiful view and quiet suburb life. But if for casual tourists traveling with family, it’s also can be decided to choose hotel in Berchtesgadener, where is more convenient for shopping stuff.

Good stay
The hotel was in an excellent location within a short walk to the Königssee lake. The hotel was super clean and offered good food for breakfast. The one negative was the location of our room. We were on the ground floor immediately next to the parking lot. We could not even have curtains open or else people could see us very well.

It is a motel not a hotel. No amenities in the room even a mug/glass for teeth brushing. My room is a connection room with the other room, but haven’t locked the door between us. Only one staff serve for reception and the bar when I check in.

Great hotel surrounded by mountains
Everything was excellent and the staff were incredibly helpful. The only minor area for improvement could be the pillows as they do not provide a lot of support.

No A/C, No Hot water but beautiful view
A hotel without A/C which you have to open your window to get fresh air and let the cold air in. Bugs just keep flying in since this place surrounded by greens and mountain. It is a very very basic facility, Beautiful view. No water boiler to borrow, if you want hot water, pay 2.40 euro (as i remember) in the coffee machine to get a small cups of hot water, the stuff really didn't try to help with this matter. Breakfast area is hot with no A/C (at least I didn't feel it at all). Not enough parking space even we pay for it, we can only park on the grass.

The Explorer Hotels were built as passive houeses - so there is a ventilation system for the whole hotel which runs automatically and uses fresh air from outside. Wonderful hotel!
This is a wonderful hotel in the Bavarian Alps close to Berchtesgaden. It is a fairly new property so everything is nice and fresh. The rooms are a little on the small side, but the bed was very comfortable, had a nice TV with plenty of international channels. The room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was ample and very tasty. I can definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again when I come back to the area.

The Hotel Explorer was a nice hotel in a very scenic setting close to a lot of the great things to do in the area. The rooms were nice and the breakfasts were great. Great value for the money and geared for the active person.

Good and bad
The location is about 4 km out of the central area, so getting something to eat is a drive. However, as a kicking off point for outdoor activities, this is probably the best location. Breakfast buffet was good. Room was pretty good, but the balconies sort of all connect and loud next room neighbors were out on their balcony until wee hours. Unfortunately, we left an electronic device in the room; called about it and have never heard back. Some of the staff could be more friendly and helpful. Overall, thought it was a little pricey for what you get.

The Explorer bar offers drinks and delicious sandwiches, salads and snacks and tthere are also nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the Explorer Hotel. Hikers paradise
Very good staff hotel is clean and modern. Setup for hikers, mountain bikers etc but hotel also seemed full of older guests who like the eco angle. Only downside was no air-con and limited food choice on site, but there is a McDonald's up the road and restaurants near by if u want them. Ideal stop if u plan to see the Eagles Nest as we did. We stayed here when it first opened and the price per night was good value, it seems to be creeping up into high quality hotel price range now though. Good Wi-Fi and easy parking also

The Explorer Hotel is officially a climate-neutral building and a zero-emission building. Part of our social sustainability is that we do not have a restaurant. As a result, we send our guests to restaurants in the proximity. But even if there is no restaurant, we have a cosy bar with hot drinks and non-alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, long drinks and spirits as well as delicious sandwiches, salads and snacks for in-between meals. Fabulous hotel
Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. A great place to stay as the hotel is a 10 min walk away from the ferry pier at Lake Konigssee. Hotel provides free bus card for guests - making it easy to explore Berchtesgaden town & Ramsau. Eagle's nest is a few minutes'drive away too. Parking space at hotel is ample and convenient. Breakfast provided by hotel is quality fresh food. A very enjoyable stay in Berchtesgaden!

A cool hotel in the Berchtesgaden region
A very funky hotel geared to people looking to hike, bike, and ski the Berchtesgaden area. While the room was a little sparse, the service and amenities made up for it. And then of course there is the fabulous views in all directions. Breakfast was fantastic and the hotel is centrally located between the town and the Koenigssee.

Modern hotel with unbeatable price performance
The hotel is new and especially designed for sports traveller. There is storage compartment for bicycle and ski equipment in the lobby. Yet as a leisure (non-sports) traveller I also had a very comfortable stay. The room is small, but is well designed to utilize every inch of space that makes you feel it is compact instead of tiny. There is a balcony in the room with lovely view. There is laundry facilities in the basement that you can pay to use at a very reasonable price (Euro 3 for a wash & dry with washing detergent supplied). This might be particularly helpful for those who is having a long trip. Yet there maybe a long queue for the laundry facilities so I suggest to book a timeslot when you check-in. The breakfast is unexpectedly good, with a variety of food and quality is good. There is an egg station where you can cook the egg by yourself, which a fresh experience for a hotel guest. The staff is nice and helpful, always with smiles on their face. Location is good too, just 2 mins drive from Konigssee. There are several nice restaurants within a few mins drive from the hotel. Overall we are highly satisfied and think the hotel has unbeatable price performance. I have no doubt to recommend it to anyone.

Great hotel in scenic location
Great home base for a few days exploring the area. Close enough to walk to the Jennerbahn or Königssee, and only a 15 minute drive to the Kehlsteinhaus.

Reception staff was not very professional.
On the check in date, we arrived the hotel around 2pm, was told room not ready. This was understandable, since we were early. However, when we came back again at 3pm, the staff still told me "not ready" with a face that was telling me "why do you come so early?"I tried to ask if we can get another room which is ready. The answer was we have to wait until the room is ready...
