one night

Posted Sep 13, 2017
Pros: free parking, helpful staff,
Cons: there was spiders above the windows and cob webs behind the bedside cabinets. i detest spiders that is how i noticed these cob webs.
Location: there isnt anything to do or visit unless you drive. we couldnt find a restaurant or any pub that did food except for the indian buffet restaurant.
we stayed for the one night and it was great. right next door is an Indian buffet its not licenced but you can take your own drink. the food was amazing with a good choice, not much of a desert section however they do have ice cream and other bits. overall very nice hotel and Indian buffet. the hotel receptionist was really lovely and very helpful. don't expect a fry up but there is a good choice of breakfast and its complimentary. yes we would stay again at £39 who wouldn't. x

Lovely staff, lovely room

Posted Aug 24, 2017
Pros: The staff and the room were excellent.
Cons: Take the "Hot and cold food available" sign off reception!!
Location: We were visiting family but St Ives is worth a visit, Huntingdon is good too.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was large, even took two desks, but the shower room was small. Breakfast was cereal or toast but you could have as much as you liked and juice, tea and coffee were also plentiful. There was a microwave. I made a milky coffee which was lovely. We laughed at the "hot and cold food available in the bar" sign on reception. That turned out to be a bag of crisps!! They are next door to a popular Indian restaurant, you could smell the curry in the carpark but not in the rooms. There was also a petrol station there but it wasn't open very long hours. Dogs are welcome, even in the bar, but when the bar doubles as the breakfast room, they weren't allowed. I didn't notice many holidaymakers there, I would say the hotel caters mostly for people travelling for work. Very good value for money though, much much less than the other local hotels. Would definitely go again.

Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. During the week we mostly cater for people working in the area. Yes we do allow dogs in the bar area unless people are eating food. We have to respect all our other guests when they are eating. We do hope to see you again soon

Terrible cleanliness and they don't care

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: They need to make sure that the hotel is at a certain level of hygiene. You can not expect someone to pay money for substance service & accommodation
Booked two nights at this hotel. The reviews seemed okay and it was a chain so I assumed i was safe... little did I know how awful it was going to be. The room was shabby, looked and was dirty, the bathrooms were even worse. Scum around the skin and in the shower, there was a funny smell and it looked like it was in dire need of a clean. I checked in and checked out within an hour of arriving. I did not stay the night and had to find alternative accommodation at 10.00pm and they still had the audacity to charge me for one nights stay. No apology, no we will take your comments on board. A very badly operated hotel, do not stay here there are plenty of good, clean and reasonable accommodation in Huntingdon. The Weatherspoons is excellent.

What I needed it to be

Posted Aug 20, 2017
I booked the hotel an hour before turning up and the staff were very accommodating seeing as I'd booked a double room for myself and a mate. They changed the booking to a twin room and gave us fantastic service for the rest of our stay. I cannot fault the whole experience and it was better than expected as a complimentary breakfast was also included at no extra cost.

Quick Stop Over Only Advisable.

Posted Jul 28, 2017
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cleanliness
Location: Out on it's own. There's a petrol station and an Indian Rest. Nothing else for at least 6 minute drive. It's out in the sticks. Good staff though.
There's not much here apart from a small bar and pillow to rest your head. The buffet continental breakfast is not worth getting up for, especially since it's over by 08.30 Weekdays. You need to equip yourself with two knifes to extract the toast as well, best advised to unplug the toaster first. Worse thing I thought was the carpet, toilet, windows, light switches and Bathroom really needed better attention by the so called cleaners. They did replace our towels each day though. Stayed three nights, staff were helpful, one plus. Worth spending a bit more or save yourself 100% and sleep in the car with the truckers in their laybys. Not going back to this chain again.

Our lite breakfast is complimentary and during the week it finishes at 8.30 am. but at the weekends it is 10.00 am. This is due to our weekday guests requiring breakfast before work. The toaster became faulty that morning and was replaced We Thank you for your comments regarding our hard working reception team.

Adequate facilities for one night stopover.

Posted Jul 2, 2017
Pros: It provided adequate facilities very economically for a one night stop over. Fire safety precautions and systems seemed to be to a high standard.
Cons: Many areas of the hotel are a bit tired and overdue a makeover.
Location: Ideal location for a north/south stopover.
Redwings Lodge is a low budget two story motel just off the A1(M) near Sawtry. It offers adequate rooms with ensuite shower/toilet/basin with a complementary breakfast. (Cereal and/or toast) Its proximity to the motorway means that there can be a lot of traffic noise if the windows are open. It is clean and tidy but shows many signs of heavy use. E.g. Chairs in the bar/breakfast room need refurbishing. The bedroom carpet though clean had some stains. Frustratingly, the fitted hairdryer was nowhere near a mirrors so could not be used! Bed linen and towels were to a high standard. There was no phone in the room but free wifi was available if a bit slow. The two staff we saw were friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed our stay , staff were very pleasant and helpful. Only problem was finding the lodge, we were travelling North and missed it completely, perhaps a more prominent sign may help.
