Unique hidden gem, a must stay!Posted Aug 3, 2015
Pros: Its uniqueness, friendliness of staff, and organic architecture inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright... the closest we will get to staying at Falling Water!
Cons: Not a real criticism, bit if I needed to be picky then an upgrade to the sanitary ware would add to the luxury feel of the rest of the hotel.
Location: Unbelievable location in the hillside, but well within reach of an enormous array of attractions a short car ride away.
Arrived late and traversed an exciting mountain track 4km into the hillside to reach the hotel, and boy was it worth it. We were welcomed by Chris the chef, who offered to help us with our luggage (be warned, pack light as there are a few stairs to climb to get to the various levels, although there is a stairlift for disabled/elderly guests) and after setling in, he took time to make us welcome and then cook a woderful meal served in the Lookout Lounge with unique 360 degree views across the surrounding scenery. The rooms were more than comfortable, and although sanitary ware could perhaps have been of higher quality for a 4 star accommodation, it was clean and everything was in working order. As for the views, they are unbelievable and totally private, so no need for curtains, just lie in bed and enjoy the sunset / sunrise in comfort. Caters for 150 people for conferences, weddings and other events, and plenty of walks around the hotel. After a truly gourmet breakfast served by Luke the breakfast chef, checkout was easy and leisurely and we met Rosemary, the owner of the hotel who shared her insights about its history. If you get the chance then stay as you will not be disappointed. My wife and I travelled from the UK and it is a shame that we will not be able to come back more often.

Nice hotel with great viewsPosted Jun 10, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: Price we were able to get the Wotif discount that night of 48% off.
Cons: Nil, very happy
Location: Location for us was great as we had to go to Auckland and then Hamilton.
We found the hotel to be clean and very comfortable. It is very conveniently and centrally located. Great views and very well priced.

Warm & inviting with massive roomsPosted Jun 2, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: Rooms are massive, loved the separate rooms for the shower/toilet and bath tub... great place to relax and unwind
Location: Great place to stay if you're doing things in Hamilton, less than 30mins to Hamilton CBD
Warm and inviting, beautiful location, great hosts - we were working in Hamilton for a few days and choose to stay here, less than 30 mins to Hamilton CBD, loved it!!

Lovely view but decor, atmosphere and pricing needs review, especially food/restaurant. Such a shame, as it has potential for brilliance.

Room with a ViewPosted May 14, 2015 on Hotels
Beautiful views, comfortable and clean, but can be hard to find when coming from the south, however friendly staff gave good directions. Breakfast was fantastic. Stairs were a bit of a hassle but that is how the views are attained for every room and the restaurant

If you need some fantastic R&RPosted Mar 25, 2015
Location: Its a bit of a drive but waitomo caves, hobbiton is only an hour away, Rotorua is about 2 hours away but totally do able.
This gem is off the beaten path, which is perfect for those who want a quiet retreat, we were booked for 2 nights and because we loved it so much we stayed an extra night. The staff were fantastic, the bush path great for adventureous hikers. Seriously just go and stay for a couple of nights! View is breathtaking as well!

ヒルサイドではなく、ヒルトップホテル！！Posted Mar 17, 2015 on Hotels

Nice large room. No mini bar in room. No cold water in fridge. Not enough toiletries in bathroom. No bath toiletries to use in bath. No air conditioning in restaurant. Beautiful views. Horrible road to hotel.

Brilliant place. Great viewsPosted Mar 1, 2015
Stayed 1 night on last minute booking. Hotel built on stepped levels giving great views from both the room and especially the 360 view from the lookout ontop. Room excellent. Restaurant very good and reasonably priced- although after the 4km drive up the unmade road you really do want to eat there. Definitely stay there.
