Armpit of a hotel from a brand I like

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: I chose it because it was close to the park where the event I was attending was being held.
Cons: I believe I've outlined that above.
Location: The hotel is situated two doors down from a head shop, and next door to a very smelly animal hospital. On the good side, restaurants abound.
The introductory impression of the Decatur La Quinta is the smell. The first floor smells moldy and stale, with aroma of unemptied trash from breakfast (at 5 in the afternoon). The second floor smells like pot smoke. Our room on the second floor smells like more mold, cigarette smoke, copious amounts of air fresheners, and the large animal vet hospital that our window looks out on. The carpet is filthy in the room, and filthier in the hall. The stair railing is actually sticky, and remains so for the entire duration of our stay. The bathroom ceiling tiles are broken in places, and the tub has chunks out of the enamel. The lights in the bathroom are so dim I consider purchasing bulbs. A friend of mine moves out because the odors are giving him a raging headache. The breakfast tables are sticky and unclean. The breakfast food choice is minimal and monotonous, and the hard boiled eggs I avoid because I don't trust the cleanliness of whoever peeled them. The staff is uncaring to the point of rudeness, and incompetent. My personal pillow (in a very distinctive pillowcase) disappears from my room. When I ask after it, I find that it has been put thru their laundry. I can no longer use it due to the chemical smell saturating it. I stay at La Quintas all the time, and I like the chain. I've never had an experience remotely like this with them. Avoid at all costs.

Decent, for the price

Posted Jul 12, 2015
Pros: Okay for the price.
Cons: Repair jobs, such as the ceiling repair in the lobby area, need to be professional. Also, treat for pests. Carpeting upstairs was buckling up some.
Location: N/A
Some very noticeable ceiling repair issues and just minor things that made it seem not so clean. Also, we were flea or chigger bitten in the room, but it is a pet friendly hotel, so maybe you can expect that. Our stay was adequate, but I would rate it about a 3.

Looks can be decieving

Posted Jul 6, 2015 on Hotels
Everything look ok but looks are deceiving. The fridge didn't cool well. The toilet was unlevel. The "continental" breakfast was nothing but fruit, cereal, and a hard boiled egg for protein. The TV didn't work so we had to switch rooms. The printer also didn't work. The only thing in decent condition was the pool area.

Don't waste your time.

This hotel was filthy. The nightstand wasn't wiped down in a long time. Carpet had horrible stains in the hallway and room. Staff made me feel like I was bothering them when I had a question. I won't be staying there ever again. If it wasn't so late in the day, I would have left.

Great location!

Came to town with my son and his girlfriend to attend a wedding of a family member. The room had two queen size beds and a pull out sofa. It was located near my family's home and the wedding location. Numerous eating establishments and grocery stores nearby. This a place that I have stayed at in the past. It is clean and the staff is respectful and nice. Yes, the furnishings could stand to be upgraded but on the whole it is clean and a bargain for the price we paid for the weekend.

Dirty, maintenance is poor.

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Nothing. Bed was okay.
Cons: Most everything
Poor at best. Photos show a food warmer for hot breakfast food, but no hot food was on the serving line. Cereal was stale, selection was poor. LaQuinta I thought had better standards than this. I doubt I will ever stay at a Laquinta again. Dirty, stained walls in room that looks like someone sprayed food or beverage on the wall and the staff did nt bother to clean it. Entire hotel needs drastic cleaning and maintenance.

Perfect for the price and reason. Worth the money
