Lovely boutique hotel walking distance from town

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: See above
Cons: I would have liked a kettle in my room to make a cup of tea and a bigger mirror but these are minor personal preferences.
Location: An excellent location a short walk from the port - which is the focal point of Hydra. We recommend Plakes beach.
Angelica Hotel is built on a traditional stone house with thick stone walls in the part that we stayed in. This meant that no noise could be heard from other customers in any adjacent rooms. The hotel had another building across the path. Our room - ARGO - had a huge balcony with sun loungers, table and 2 chairs - we could see the sea in the distance and the hills. The hotel is set a short walk away from the port and restaurants and we found it very quiet during September. It was lovely seeing the children making their way up to the primary school from our window. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful and friendly giving us local advice. The room was had plenty of space and the bed was, in our opinion, very comfortable. All in all, a classy establishment, worthy of an exclusive island and excellent value for money.

Good but expensive

Posted Jun 8, 2016
Pros: Good location, set back 200 yards from the harbour, so very quiet without being a long walk to the centre. Very clean and staff helpful.
Cons: Communication from owner could be better. Your experience will depend on which room you get allocated. Some balconies are more private than others.
Location: With no motor vehicles of any kind, Hydra is blissfully peaceful, yet the harbour area is buzzing. Lots of interesting walks nearby (if not too hot!)
The Anjelica has been created out of an old house and new building on the opposite side of the road. Our room was in the old part and I got the distinct impression the newer part was better, although it only seems to come into use as the hotel fills up. Our room (Argo) was fairly spacious and contained classic old furniture. The air conditioning was pretty effective and the bathroom was clean if a little clunky. Each room has a 'private' balcony but ours was separated from our neighbours by a very low wall. As it turned out we barely saw them but if you had a loud person - or a smoker - next door it could ruin your outside time. The breakfast was pretty good without being great - the coffee was basically weak brown water but the friendly staff will make an espresso if you ask. There's a jacuzzi in a courtyard with sun lingers and towels - but it's on the other side of the road and the owner never mentioned it to us. When we discovered it (the day before we were going home), his reaction was 'Well, you booked through Expedia, didn't you see it on the website...?' Overall, the Anjelica is a perfectly good hotel but expensive for what it is - plus there's loads of choice on Hydra. It's probably a three and a half rather than a four star.

Wonderful hotel a lovely stay

Posted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: The hotel is very nice, good air conditioning, quiet, and comfortable beds. Excellent buffet breakfast with loads of choice - great start to the day!
Cons: I'd have preferred a power shower (and a bath) rather than a jacuzzi bath. However, that's just personal preference the bathroom set-up works well.
Location: Swimming in the med, shops, relaxed bars and restaurants. Options for walks. Great stuff.
Angelica Hotel is located a little way up the hill from the waterfront in a very peaceful spot. Hotel is in great condition and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff are helpful and serve a great breakfast. They even leant us towels for our regular trips to swim in the sea! Hydra is a fabulous place, with loads of beautiful bars and restaurants perched around the edge of the shore line. There are no sandy beaches (we could find), but that doesn't matter because there loads of platforms on the edge of the rocky shore-line that you can jump straight into the see from - brilliant! Loads of very relaxed and helpful people around Hydra and great night scene with lots of bars and restaurants.

Very nice

Very nice hotel. We arrived very early in the morning so we couldn't check in but the manager provided us with a place to change and leave our bags. The only reason I gave a 4 not 5 was the manager seemed a bit snooty. Other than that it was a great stay.

Lovely quiet Hotel with great amenities

Posted May 23, 2015
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only improvements I would suggest is a comfy chair in the room and a mattress upgrade. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the staff helpful and genuine. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Nice room and helpful staff. A bit of a trek up the hill with luggage. Of you call the hotel they can arrange a porter with a barrow

Komfort mit Familienatmosphäre

Posted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: Sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre in familiärem Umfeld.
