Where to stay in Ibiza Island

Your Guide to Ibiza Island Hotels

Hotels in Ibiza, the ultimate party island, come in all shapes and sizes, from opulent 5-star hotels to cheap-as-chips hostels. If you’re heading off for hardcore all-nighters with your mates you might not want to spend your hard-earned cash on a 4-star hotel that you’ll barely see but, if you’re dreaming of a relaxing break with your partner, there are plenty of charming Ibiza hotels in breathtaking locations that will bring out the romantic in everyone.

Ibiza town – often referred to by its Catalan name Eivissa – is packed with history and heritage. In Ibiza Cathedral you can admire many works of art, including a Gothic monstrance in gold and silver and paintings of St James and St Matthew by the 15th-century master Valenti Montoliu. Ibiza Castle has its origins in the 12th century, although the current building, whose fortifications tower over the old town, dates from the early 1600s. Visit the Archaeological Museum in the World Heritage Site of Dalt Vila in the upper town to discover more about its Phoenician and Carthaginian past.

Beach-lovers will be spoilt for choice in Ibiza. Experience the hippie hedonism of pine-clad Benirras Beach in the north of the island, where mystics gather at sunset to meditate on the Cap Bernat rock in the middle of the bay. Or bag a sun lounger in the family-friendly resort of Bossa Beach and enjoy some water sports before heading off to Space to dance the night away with Ibiza’s top superstar DJs. From the harbor at Es Canar you can catch a ferry to the bijou island of Formentera to enjoy sunbathing as nature intended on one of its secluded pristine white beaches, or take your camera to unspoilt Cala Comte on the north-western tip of the island to capture its crystal-clear turquoise waters and breathtaking sunsets.

In the summer Ibiza buzzes to the beat of the clubbing crowd, but there are many other reasons to visit this temperate island at other times of the year. The airport has frequent charter flights as well as scheduled connections to the Spanish mainland and a good range of airport hotels, making Ibiza a convenient hub for business meetings and conferences. Another, quieter side of Ibiza comes into its own outside the main tourist season, when luxury hotels offer great deals and even fashionable boutique hotels sometimes have last-minute vacancies – live the jet set life for a fraction of the cost and enjoy your own private foam party in the comfort of your ensuite.
