"Art Deco Hotel - Great if you want what you get"
I would recommend staying here if you are interested in Art Deco, Tokyo's 20th century past, or just an interesting experience. I stayed here because it has a beautiful Art Deco exterior, and was (is?) a hangout for the literati of Tokyo. The hotel interior gives the impression of being a bit tired. But that is because it is all from the 1950s (?). My room was comfortable; but a bit dowdy. The area around the hotel has many trees. It was a novel experience to wake up in Tokyo to the sound of birdsong! At night I was lulled to sleep by someone playing jazz in the Meiji University dorms adjacent to the hotel. Don't stay in the annex; nothing to recommend it. I'm not sure that I would stay here if you are just coming for tourism and want a modern affordable hotel. If you are coming to Tokyo on the Narita Express, get off at Tokyo station, and change to the Chuo JR line. Go to Ochanomizu (Water for Tea...nice name!). Go out of the station at the Meiji University side. The hotel is 10 minutes walk. It's a hilly area (hence name of hotel). It's an easier walk if you go past the Kandasurugadai post office, and take a left. Have a look at the map inside the station before you exit. This is a great area. There are many used book stores, some of which specialize in European languages. Also many musical instrument stores. Since it is a university area, there are many cheap restaurants; Japanese,Indian, Thai, Chinese, and hamburgers. There are also many bars and coffee houses.

"Close to Metro, comfortable stay"
We stayed at the Metropolitan Edmont for 9 days for a conference and for some sightseeing time in Tokyo. The room was tiny (you really don't have room for much more than your carry-on luggage!) but squeaky clean and nicely appointed. Air conditioning worked well, which was needed since we were there during a record-breaking heat wave. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Metro station Iidabashi, so it's great for access to the rest of Tokyo. We paid the rate with breakfast included, and the buffet for breakfast was plentiful with both Japanese and Western options. There are several restaurants in the hotel as well as the breakfast buffet room (which features a dinner buffet at night), but we only tried the Chinese restaurant, which was over-priced and not very good. Luckily, across the courtyard from the hotel is a 3 story building with about a dozen eateries--a ramen house, a Korean barbeque place, another noodle shop, a pretty good Chinese restaurant, an upscale Japanese place, and an Indian restaurant, among others. Much cheaper options that the hotel dinners. Also, you can find an ATM that works for foreign cards in the 7-11 there. All things considered, Iidabashi isn't a charming part of Tokyo, but it's quiet and convenient.

"Very suitable place for tourists!"
I stayed at this hotel for about a week, and was very pleased with everything. The location is convenient, as the closest metro station is Jimbocho, but Kudanshita is also not far away. There is also a convenience store across the road so you can buy almost anything at short notice. The staff are able to speak English and are very good to deal with, as they are always eager to help. Rooms were kept very tidy, amenities always re-stocked, and I always returned from a day out to a fresh new room. They also have a breakfast buffet in the mornings, and with free wifi you can enjoy eating there and checking your phone before you head out to explore exciting Tokyo!
