Average 4 star hotel could do better.
Location right on beach lovely. Hotel layout and indoor pool also a plus. However apart from good staff at bar, the restaurant and reception staff were only average. Restaurant food was average to poor for a 4 star hotel with the exception of the Friday night seafood buffet.

Great hotel, great facilities, great location
Great hotel, great facilities, great location. Friendly staff and warm welcome. Not the best beach for swimming (strong tide, lots of old iron mussel/oyster beds), but very beautiful. Indoor seawater pool and other activities more than compensated.

Tranquil hotel in great location
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided a good selection of gluten free food. It was a good location to hire a bike and explore. Eating outside by the sea was fantastic.

Lovely hotel!
Having been stuck in traffic for nearly 7 hours, due to the farmer's strike, we didnt get to the hotel until late evening. It would have been a nice gesture to offer a complimentary drink, and we had to make use of the tea/coffee facilities in the room (which consisted of one tea bag, one coffee sachet and a herbal tea bag only). The room was satisfactory, and we had a small patio (with table and chairs) outside which was quite dark because of the shrubbery. There was ample toiletries, and a fridge (which contained a small bottle of complimentary water). The food looked very nice, but we found the menu and drinks to be expensive. The best feature of this hotel is it's beachfront location which is absolutely wonderful. It was very relaxing and tranquil. The staff are friendly and i would highly recommend the hotel.

Quiet location, private beach. Public Oleron beaches can be very busy and inaccessible. Popular with French families. Mix of old/young. Good facilities and food. Spa treatments expensive. little English spoken.

After more than 20 years we returned to this lovely island.It is now more commercial but still very peaceful, particularly the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay was beautiful - just a shame the weather wasn't! Overall the hotel was well maintained and clean, although we had to report our balcony was flooded as guttering blocked.

A luxurious break
A really lovely hotel with fantastic views from the restaurant and decked area. Very helpful staff. Great indoor pool and very comfortable rooms. Only 2 downsides - the menu, which was overpriced and limited in choice especially for children and the fact that other guests had their dogs with them!

Gorgeous location & pool
Stayed here one night with our two kids (6 & 8) - we all loved the deck of the hotel, straight on the beach. The swimming pool (salty!) is large and also well situated, straight on the beach. N.B. low tide reveals racks for oyster farming, definitely would be unpleasant to bash ones feet on. Ocean beaches are ~2 km walk away through the forest, or you can take the "petit train"

Not great value for money
The location of the hotel was great. On the coast of the island with a large expanse of beach to rome. We stayed for one night only as I felt it wasn't good value for money. 2 adults and 2 children in an executive room. To lay out the sofa bed we had to move the table and stack the 2 chairs on top of one another. There was 1/2 foot between double bed and sofa, it was far to cramped. The room was clean with slipper and bathrobes and the staff very helpful and friendly. I would stay there again but maybe not during August when rates were at their highest. The hotel did have good spa facilities.

loved walking out onto the beach with long walks possible in both directions. salt pool, sauna and steam room were nice. room was small though clean and well designed with kettle and bar fridge for snacks and a light breakfast. kids ate free at the breakfast buffet which was appreciated. A/C worked well. I wish there were fans in the bathrooms, but there was a nice big shower.

PERFECT BEACHSIDE HOTEL
ENJOYED OUR SHORT BREAK AT THIS HOTEL WHICH OFFERS GOOD FACILITIES IN A SUPERB LOCATION. RECEPTION STAFF BOTH FRIENDLY AND INFORMATIVE. NICE SPA AND POOL. UNFORTUNATELY RESTUARANT LET DOWN BY OVERPRICED MENU FOR STANDARD OF QUALITY, LACK OF SERVICE AND MISERABLE WAITERS, GOOD CHOICE OF RESTUARANTS A SHORT DRIVE AWAY THOUGH.

This is our second visit to this hotel and will go again next year we live the location and there is a great walk to the other side of the island where the beach is amazing about 20 minutes from hotel. The beach infront of the hotel had a few huge jellyfish washed up so that put the children off swimming but they were happy to play in the sand - we found the hotels pool over chlorinated which made it very unpleasant to swim in which was the same the year before but it didn't spoil our visit as we had sunshine and were out all the time.

The hotel was lovely and in a great location, for a Novotel the standard was better than I expected. I was however on the first floor near the kitchen entrance which meant that I was woken up at 5 am when the deliveries started to come, they did however compensate me by giving us all free breakfast which saved me 50 euro's. I would stay here again, the beach is lovely and you can have nice walks around the area.

Chambre vue mer avec terrasse très correcte. Literie impeccable. Accueil efficace et souriant mais plus limite dans la zone restauration. Salle de restaurant un peu ''cafétéria améliorée'' mais qui passe, étant donné le cadre époustouflant dans lequel se situe l'établissement. Très belle piscine couverte et hammam magnifique plus 2 saunas: ...c'est top ! Les petit déjeuners sont également remarquables avec des huîtres à discrétion. ...Nous reviendrons !

Très bon séjour au Novotel Thalassa Ile d'Oléron mais... nous y sommes déjà venus plusieurs fois et les installations sont de plus en plus vieillissantes, voire vétustes pour certaines, mise à part la salle de restauration qui a été refaite. Il commence à y avoir des tâches sur les sols et dans les toilettes dans les chambres, entre autre. Le buffet de la mer du vendredi soir est toujours de bonne facture mais bien moins complet et généreux qu'il y a quelques années. Bref, le cadre est toujours magique mais il serait grand temps de renouer avec le lustre d'antan et de rénover de fond en comble cet établissement comme cela a été fait avec la rénovation très réussie du MGallery de Chatelallion-Plage !

Cadre idyllique, personnel agréable, piscine d'eau de mer épatante, Seul bémol : la cuisine, qui est au dessous des attendus pour cette gamme d'hôtel. Pour le buffet du vendredi soir, mieux vaut réserver de bonne heure si vous souhaitez avoir du choix.
