Old Hotel trying to get better

Posted Jan 18, 2016
Pros: It's close to a lot of shopping and dining in downtown Indy.
Cons: Lobby definitely needs an overhaul.
Location: Near a mall and many restaurants.
The hotel is part of a larger complex with other businesses. There is a lot of construction going on in the lobby, so it's not great to look at. They staff was very accommodating, but the hotel itself is very dated. One morning I had to wait about 15 minutes for an elevator on the 20th floor because they were working on them. The parking garage underneath is very small with a 6 ft clearance. Parking is $26 a night. It didn't feel like a four-star hotel to me. Maybe it will when they finish all the construction.

Downtown hotel, close to activities

Posted Jan 13, 2016
In town for a girls weekend and the hotel and staff were great!! Hotel is centrally located downtown and within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and shopping. Although the lobby was under construction the hotel and rooms were in good condition and very clean. Would recommend to anyone!

a little dated and horrible parking

Posted Jan 2, 2016
Pros: the lobby was updated and the room was clean.
Cons: For a Hyatt Regency they have not done much for upgrades. The JW Marriot down the street is much nicer.
Location: center of downtown. lots of restaurants and close to most things
Booked 6 days, price was very good but with the catch that I would pay $26 dollars a day to park... ok, I accepted that. Got there and I had requested a king with a sofa sleeper for my 9 year old. They said they only had that for 4 of the 6 nights and were going to charge me an extra $50 a night for the final 2 nights to upgrade to a different room. This was a shock and in the end they waived the additional fee. Next we pulled up to the valet and he met us promptly, the first words out of his mouth were "Are you aware of our parking situation"? We said we knew we would have to pay $26 a day to park. "That was not right" he said. It turns out if you park in the self parking it is $13 per hour up to a max of $26 PER ENTRY. So this means if you leave and come back 2 hours later you have to pay another $26. Well since we were going to be in and out all week we had to opt for the valet service which did allow in and out but it was $39 a day and tipping $3-5 every time you pick up your car worked out to about $45-50 a day. More than I was expecting. I have stayed all over the world from Brazil at World Cup to Australia and this type of parking is very uncommon. Yes we have the money to pay for it but this parking situation was not relayed when booking the hotel. That was the annoyance. The valet staff were fantastic and fast by the way. This is more a situation where Hyatt should be cutting a deal with the parking garage.

Dated and dishonest

Posted Jan 1, 2016
Expedia.com & Hyatt can confirm I have stayed at the Hyatt Indy approx 15 times over the last 3 years. My experiences have always been good, sad to say this hotel's rooms are now badly dated, mold in showers room 518 & bedding stunk of urine. We stayed here Christmas night and the night after. On the 26th we went to a movie at 4 pm and returned at 615 pm. The maid had come and cleaned the room. She'd also helped herself to my girlfriends Christmas card which had $250 in it. I reported this to security and hotel management, they took report and confirmed through their engineering department that staff was the only one to enter our room while we were gone. The staff member was off until the 30th and the rooms mgr had to interview her to get back to me with how they would handle this. Gee do you think she'd confess? Yes, thats sarcasm. Expedia.com can confirm I've stayed probably 50 nights in the last few years, using their site, and never tried to make, any type of claim against any hotel, I'm not trying to scam Hyatt for $250. December 31st rooms mgr calls me informs me he interviewed maid and can't conclude she's responsible, Hyatt's insurer will not pay claim as there's no proof, should I be shocked lol, I told the rooms mgr this was exactly what I expected. He wished me a happy new year, what a tool. Like he, as rooms mgr had no authority to make a right out of a wrong over $250. My bad for leaving cash in room, but you'd think a Hyatt should be responsible/safe. Bad karma..

Beautiful but lacking

Posted Dec 29, 2015
We lived the location and beautiful room with a view of downtown Indy. However they didn't have half the items on the menu available and we were shorted bath towels. The staff, though pleasant and kind, were not accommodating with these concerns. I'd likely not stay here again when I know there's better service at other nearby hotels.
