The hotel was close to tourist bureau and attractions, restaurants and public transport. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The foyer and breakfast room were looking a little tired but reception and service was very good.good value.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Grand Hotel de Tours. As you mentioned the hotel is ideally located in the center of Tours. I'm thrilled that you appreciated the clean and comfortable room, and that you found our customer service to be satisfactory. I am sorry you found the foyer and the breakfast room to be tired-looking. The hotel was built in 1927, and we try to keep as much of the Art Deco atmosphere alive as possible. That being said, we also do yearly renovations on certain parts of the hotel. Thank you for your feedback and thank you for staying at the Grand Hotel de Tours. We hope to see you again soon! Best regards, Benjamin

Great Art Deco central hotel

A pit stop in the Loire brought us to Tours. Great town for an overnight stopover. The Grand is a little tired but a beautiful Art Deco hotel with some wonderful features. We had a lovely big family room and bathroom. Parking nearby and central to town so perfect all round.

Facilities are too old.

The location is good but the facilities are too old. Not very clean. I would not recommend you to stay here. Compared to the price, it's not worth. But if you only stay one night, it's convenient to railway station. You may choose it just because of the location.

Pros: By far, the best was the breakfast.
Cons: WiFi was quite slow.
Location: It is in a great part of Tours, easy walking distance to shops, St. Martin's cathedral, the Loire, great restaurants as well as the train station.
Overall, pleasant and old fashioned. Excellent breakfast, great coffee, pleasant staff and clean rooms.

Good Hotel for the Price

Pros: The price was good for the room, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
Cons: Possibly different products for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (esp for upgraded rooms.)
Location: The location is great! We were able to walk to the Cathedral and the Churches in the area, parks, the older town square for breakfast and coffee.
We arrived on a Thursday at about midnight after driving and visiting Chateaus all day - we were exhausted. We couldn't figure out where to park so we called the front desk and they explained that we could park in the Indigo lot for the train station close to there, and we'd pay at the hotel for a cheaper rate (8 or 9 euros), for 24 hours which was great. The man at the check in was very nice, and he gave us free wifi passes after we asked, make sure you get one for each of your devices you want to use. The room was good - we got one of the middle-priced ones with the two beds pushed together. The only complaints were that we were facing the train station and it was quite noisy and bright in the morning (we were getting up early anyway so it didn't matter.) The bathroom tile wasn't flush with the bathtub, but it was clean and the decor was decently modern. There was instant coffee in the room, but we only had one packet of caffeinated coffee (and 3 decaf) in the morning, so maybe check that before you go to sleep the night before if it's important to you :) The soap in the bathroom was 3-in-one hand/body/shampoo soap, so if you need specific conditioner/shampoo/body wash, bring that yourself. We didn't have the hotel breakfast because we wanted to go get pastries in a local place, so I can't speak to the quality of that. All-in-all it was a clean, no-frills place to sleep for a few hours. Would stay again for the price and location.

I'm glad you had a good stay with us and that you found the level of customer service and the room pricing especially satisfactory. Your comments are a great help for us in knowing what we're doing right as well as the areas where we can improve. Great location, nice hotel

Pros: Great location, good price, clean and comfortable.
Location: Grocery store, train station, restaurants, tourism office and van tour pickup.
The hotel staff were very kind, accommodating and bilingual. The location is fantastic, near the train station, next to a grocery store, and around the corner or a close walk to restaurants and shopping. Also across from the tourist bureau and tour van pickup. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet on the backside of the hotel. The bathroom was also newly remodeled. I would recommend for budget travelers, and I would also stay here again. Amenities like in-room coffee, ice in bucket, and room service dining available upon request.

You are correct about the Grand Hotel being centrally located, near tourist destinations and transit, near the train station and grocery store... and just about anywhere else you might need to go! A Grand Hotel indeed

Pros: Our room was large, with double closets and a good king-size bed. The hotel, as mentioned, has a great location for shops, restaurants, and exploring.
Le Grand Hotel Tours is a once-grand hotel that is showing its age. It has charm, a terrific location, and a competent, resourceful staff. We used the hotel as a base for visiting the many chateaus and other historic locations in the Loire Valley and it worked for us in that role. They were offering a discounted breakfast option ($10 vs. $13 normally) which was a very good value. Easy walking to Tours restaurant district, where places stayed open late, was convenient after returning from a day of sight-seeing. One downside: the wi-fi is terrible. It is inconvenient, since you have to get a separate log-in for each device you wish to connect every 24 hours. Once connected, your connection can be dropped at any moment. I had more trouble with my Apple devices (iPhone and iPad) than my husband did with his Samsung Galaxy phone and laptop. The hotel staff are aware of this and said that they have asked the owners to improve the service.

Nice hotel close to train station

The hotel is surprisingly close to the train station of Tours, which we found very convenient. The rooms were spacious, clean and tidy in rather old fashion. Service was good overall, while it would be even better if each of the rooms are provided with kettle for tea/ coffee making.

Hotel with character

The hotel is big but has al quite a historical character. The breakfast is nice, staff is friendly. The room is basic, but comfortable. Good value for price. Do not follow GPS! The road and square in front of the hotel is closed to traffic but there is a parking garage just as you get to the square. Vinci Parking. You get a discount ticket from the hotel.
