Nice hotel close to campus

The staff was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good too. The free wifi was very slow.

Pros: Rooms were clean
Cons: Advise guests before checking in if any of the services were not available.
Location: Shopping
The staff was a little rude when checking us in. My husband was upset that the hot tub was broken and they failed to mention it. The breakfast area was clean, however they did run out of some things.

Expedia problem

The hotel was very good with excellent location. When we arrived there was NO reservation due to an error on connection between Expedia and Hotel. We had a copy of the verification from Expedia. After a wait of about 45 minutes while calls were made to Expedia we were assigned a room as far away as possible from the desk. Quite a walk with my cane. Almost late for the wake.---- Reason for the stay and funeral. Hotel said Expedia admitted the error.

Clean hotel, close to U of I

Pros: Clean, quiet, comfortable. The breakfast was really good.
Location: The hotel is close to The University of Iowa and all of the things the university has to offer including the downtown shopping experience.
The room was clean. The bed was very comfortable. I liked the pillows. I got a good nights sleep. We were close to The University of Iowa where we were attending first year student orientation.

The original room assigned to us was not made ready. There were several bloody towels in the bathroom, a lot of blood! The beds had not been made. It left us with an uneasy feeling. The desk clerk, Nick was very accomodating and got us another room immediately. Hampton Inn has always been out hotel of choice but this experience was very disappointing.

Family Graduation

Pros: Clean and quiet
Cons: More interesting items on breakfast bar.
In Iowa City for a family graduation. We had a bad experience with another hotel in town last year when we were here for a wedding. So I wasn't expecting much. I was happily surprised. The staff was nice, the room was comfortable, and there were no noisy upstairs people. The noise level was really nice. Breakfast was pretty normal for hotels. I didn't use the pool or workout room, but they looked nice. I recommend this one. In fact, if I come to Iowa City again, I will be choosing this one.

Funeral in Kalona

Pros: Cleanliness, comfort, large bathroom.
Cons: The coffee pot, et. al., should NOT be in the bathroom.
Our stay was perfect . . . as it should be. We needed a comfortable place to stay overnight to attend a funeral 5 1/2 hours from home. The Hampton Inn/University Iowa City fit the bill nicely.
