Lousy service

Location: The town nearby is dead after 2 so you better get everything you want before then
The house was nothing like the pictures online on the outside which need to be updated on the site. I thought the lady was rude,and there was noone there when we got there and I had to call to get let in the house for about 30 minutes because we have verizon and I didnt have service. We was there several times beofre checkin and noone said anything about a code to let ourselves in. The place was very unorganized i thought and will never stay there. I am also a diabetic and they have no diet soda just water which I am not too crazy about, I am a soda drinker but need Diet not regular.. We left because I put in a complaint to Paypal which is who I purchased it with and they told us to leave since we wanted a refund,and next time I will check out the motel in person beofre I book anything. I was also told there was fishing which I could not even drive to because the roads was washed out from the last flood which I understand is mother natures fault however the flood happened a good while ago and should have been fixed since they was advertising fishing access.We also asked them about places to eat close and they told us the closets things to eat at supper time was in Farmington because everything would be closed in the town, and we found out aking around town that there are places around there to eat that they said nothing about because they was their competition.

Fabulous

So clean, comfortable and welcoming! Never had a more pleasant stay in my life. Ruth was an excellent cook and very generous with her portions at breakfast. Breakfast was always different in some way, coffee was always hot and the view pleasant and(mostly)sunny. My favorite has to be the in room jacuzzi! Used it almost nightly and always slept well and awoke refreshed. I will definitely be back.

Just OK

Kind of boring, not much to do within walking distance, plenty of R&R .The Pool was overtaken by 3 families with 6-7 little screaming kids. They should have stayed in a motel.

Beware!!! Money hungry owners!!!

Owner(s) are inconsiderate and liers!!! Never again will I even consider giving another dollar to these people... Hope they found it beneficial to reserve the right to not cancel our reservation (due to hospitalization) just like I reserve the right to this write this review!!! Could be a nice place but the customer service over the phone was terrible and then hearing every excuse/lie why they can't do something was enough for me I called the agent in charge of the listings and was given the complete truth that the owners could not seem to pass on to me as a customer!!! Beware !!!! Not a place I will ever consider resting my head

Problems with reservation

Pros: Very nice decor, comfy beds and good breakfasts. Water and soda and a tasty snack mix were readily available.
Cons: One of my sisters and I tried the hot tub but couldn't get the temperature above 89 degrees. We mentioned the issue to the innkeeper the next day.
Location: This area is about 1.5 hours south and slightly west of St. Louis. We spent a beautiful fall day at Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-in, Taum Sauk.
Plain & Fancy is in a great location for checking out Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-ins and Taum Sauk Mountain. The B&B's setting is appealing, with a creek in back, a fire pit, patio with table and chairs and a hot tub. The interior is charming and nicely vintage. Our problem started when I arrived with my three sisters for a stay in the Rhett Butler suite and the otherwise sweet innkeeper said she was expecting only two guests. What? I had talked to the innkeeper two weeks before our arrival to confirm all the details. I also had a printout of my Expedia confirmation for 4 people and a "paid in full" receipt (I am a planner!). But the owners airily announced that we would be on the hook for an additional $60. I got on the phone immediately with Expedia, fought my way to a manager got a promise of a $60 credit to my charge card. Also: The frame on the foldout couch in the Rhett Suite was broken. There was some alarming talk about trying to "prop up" the bed before a nearby room was made available at no charge. The issue for my sisters and me was the owners' attitude that the four of us were getting away with something, which created an uncomfortable vibe. At checkout, the owner announced that the website for B&Bs would make up the difference. I tried to show her the Expedia receipt but she was not the least bit interested. My sisters and I really enjoyed the area but the hassle with the folks at Plain & Fancy put a lot of negativity into the trip.

Perfect Getaway!

This was the perfect, relaxing place to stay. My husband and I stumbled upon this B&B and we will definitely be back! The hospitality, cleanliness, everything was above and beyond.
