Could do better

Posted Apr 24, 2016
Conveniently located in central Douglas on the seafront. Modern, clean and well decorated reception and bar areas. The rooms are found in a maze of corridors, up and down mini flights of stairs on each floor. The standard room was disappointingly small, with a view of a rendered wall a couple of feet from the window. The room was hot so had the window open, which meant it was surprisingly noisy. The TV was squeezed into the corner of the room and tea/coffee etc. sited on the only small flat surface in the room - so nowhere to put my 'stuff'. The corner shower was just about big enough to get into. Seemed expensive for what you got.

Great location and comfort for business.

Pros: Location and warmth on cold nights. Very cosy in a howling rainstorm.
Cons: No - absolutely great as it is.
Location: Two minutes walk to financial offices and shops; an easy and brisk walk on the promenade is across the road, to make you feel better about exercise.
A really friendly welcome. All staff are really helpful. A great breakfast and a lovely range of light and full meals in the evenings. My room was quiet and very clean. I'll be back!

Disappointing

Posted Aug 29, 2015
Pros: Reception area
Cons: Rooms, cleaning, staff and cost of stay was high for what is really a B&B with a dining room.
Room wasn't ready but were offered tea and it didn't take long for the room to become available. Room was small and it was too hot - we had the fan on all night and the window open. Asked for a new room but as the hotel was full there was limited choice. The 2nd room had a bigger bathroom but the shower could have done with a better clean and the room wasn't any better than the first one. The reception staff were nice but breakfast staff gave the impression that they didn't want to be there. The breakfast was nice but the toast was only toasted on once side. It is flagged as a 4 star hotel but has limited facilities.
