Perfect stay in Newport, central Isle of wight.
We only had a few days and One Holyrood was the perfect location in Newport. It was easy to find and 5 mins walk from the bus station. Lovely room and very friendly staff. The included breakfast was excellent. One Holyrood is a cafe during the day and closed in the evening. There are many nearby restaurants and pubs serving food

Great stay
Perfect location by dock for supermarket, town centre and gym. The road outside can be a bit noisy in the evening with youngsters racing about but it tended to stop around 11pm. Great little ground floor flat, comfy and warm with kitchen, WiFi and en-suite.

Boutique central hotel

The room was comfortable and spacious and breakfast was good - my partner particularly enjoyed the breakfast. It was nice having a separate bath and walk in shower. There were some facilities maintenance issues around the room and hotel e.g. carpet flapping off the steep stairs in places, creating a trip hazard; a black dent in the bath enamel where someone had clearly dropped something previously, a discoloured worktop around the sink which might have been water damage, and slightly tired paintwork in the room. For the price charged, we would have expected these issues to be repaired, but we do understand the difficulties of balancing the books these days. The room must’ve been wonderful when first done. Having said that, compared to the other accommodation available at short notice on the island, this was better than most places and in a similar price bracket. We enjoyed our stay and slept well.

A delightful experience

No Hospitality from an unfriendly hotel owner.
This location does not have 24/7 check-in, which wasn't apparent until after we booked. I called to ask if we could have a later check-in at 9pm (7pm typically their latest) and the owner/manager said yes they could accommodate. The day we were driving down (several hours away, I found that we would not be able to get there by 9pm because we couldn't get on the earlier ferry to the island. I called as soon as I could and she gruffly agreed to meet us at 10pm to give us the keys. Every interactions was gruff and unfriendly with this lady. The one waitress we interacted with at breakfast was very pleasant, but I wouldn't recommend this place based on the owners unhospitable behavior. People who can't be nice should not be in the hospitality service industry. And it wouldn't take much... a simple smile, how was everything, thank you so much for staying with us... easy, simple friendly gestures go a long way--don't count on getting them here.

Comfortable stay
Nice place to stay, good breakfast, room was fine / comfortable. Only thing that lets this place down is service - we went out in the evening to return at 10.30pm - not late - doors locked but staff sitting inside watching us trying to get in. Not one got up to open the door/s - very strange. Weird welcome as well.. maybe that's how people are on the Isle of Wight..? Strange place.

This is a charming, historical, and very old building that has been renovated to become a B&B. I would have loved to have had more time there. The garden area is gorgeous, quiet, and a lovely place to enjoy during your stay.

A lovely Inn to visit over and over again.
This was a gorgeous full service hotel with the flavor of an Inn. Beautiful inside and out, delicious restaurant, staff that actually care if you're having a good time, if you have everything you need and can they help improve your stay. Karen, Elaine, Lee, Becky, Emma and a wonderful chef who's name I never learned. Great location in Newport.. everything walkable. We will definitely return to experience another lovely vacation.

1 Holyrood, Newport
Lovely hotel right in the centre of Newport. Big rooms and very tastefully decorated throughout. Were upgraded upon arrival, due to special occasion, to the fabulous loft room with ancient beams. Very helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Easy to get to and parking around the corner. Plenty of nearby restaurants to try. Will definitely consider another stay.
