I booked this hotel only because Turkish Airline, which is excellent, provided a free stop over night there, so I booked additional 4 nights to save the hassle of changing hotels. I was under assumption that this was a 4-star hotel. It is not. The hotel is very dated and tired. The steps leading to the foyer are all broken. The furnishings are circa 70s, well worn and in need of replacement. We were given a room with three single beds, even though we booked queen. The free breakfast was so terrible that we chose to eat at a lovely restaurant across the road. Turkey has beautiful food, however not at this hotel. When we asked for directions, the hotel staff informed us that the information is down the road, where you can buy maps etc. This information centre, 10 minutes away, is always closed. Turkish airways is letting its reputation down with this hotel.

Better the 2nd time around!
This is my second stay at Grand Yavuz in three weeks. I must say this time my rating is higher-- the wifi system is much improved! We have four rooms booked and all of us appreciated the fixes they made to wifi. Recommend this hotel for walking to old city attractions (grand bazaar, egyptian bazaar, trolley line, hagia sofia, blue mosque). Also a safe nighttime neighborhood even for single women walking.

Easily walk to blue mosque, grand and Egyptian bazaars, Ayasofia, trolley and ferries. Breakfast options good. Rooftop bar with Bosporus and views of all sites was a hidden gem. Wifi was inadequate. Slow with one device but three devices in same room made it non functional (there was no major downloading/streaming happening). We had multiple rooms on different floors and this was consistent in every room and lobby. Also the room keys in 2 of the 4 rooms had to be replaced multiple times.

The staff were great and honest. We got our luggage downstairs to leave and upon checkout, the clerk said you left your phone in the room because the cleaner rang immediately before we left the hotel. The honesty and care was unmatched

The staff was very helpful. The area was safe and walkable. Good options all around for shopping and public transport. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds could be a little better.

The pictures on website are nothing like reality, especially the breakfast buffet. In the photos for breakfast, the entire counters filled with food and fruit, in reality there was less than half the food pictured. Only some cheese, meat, 2 cereals, boiled eggs and bread. No fruit. The sitting areas and lounges are kept in the dark, no lights turned on and none of the window shades pulled up... it was very dark and creepy. They do not provide irons or extra water bottles, you have to pay for both, which is very inconvenient. However, location is great, about 15 min walk from Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar.

Hotel was in a good location and they allowed us to check in early, however was advertised as having free parking. When we arrived we had no place to park and all nearby parking facilities were full. We managed to find a parking area that charged 70 lira for the amount of time we needed but that only lasted until 7pm. This meant we had to risk street parking quite a distance away which could have also resulted in a ticket. The staff were really nice and offered us a complimentary pack lunch because we checking out early and would miss out on breakfast.

Nice few days break
Didn't know what to expect as had read a few reviews that weren't good, but was pleasantly surprised. For me the hotel is in a great location, as it is walkable to all the attraction, however it wouldn't be suited for anyone who has any sort of difficulty walking, as there are some pretty steep hills! Our room was comfortable and clean, and the restaurant and lounge areas are nice enough. I did not find one of the reception staff very helpful at all, a smile would help, but generally staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall, for a budget break to Istanbul I would recommend, and would go back.

Front desk staff are horrible , they informed me that the advertised free airport shuttle listed on the website is only for guests who make their reservation through the hotel web site and threatened to call the police when I tried to cancel an airport shuttle that would have cost double what a taxi would cost.

Me my wife and a one year two months baby stayed at this hotel for 8 nights. The people and most of the staff were very friendly and the hotel had a family friendly atmosphere. We were given a very nice room with a sea view with 3 beds. Even though we asked for a baby cot but they didn't have one as the hotel was very busy. Very nice breakfast and many nice restaurants are around the hotel. We only didn't like two things first the internet was a torture as it was too slaw and couldn't even use viber properly, and secondly with the baby pram we had to walk up a very high hill every day as we went out, but I suppose in this central area all the alleys are like that. Brilliant position only 10mins walk from blue mosque.

Enchanting stay!
From the beginning, the most helpful staff made us feel at home...taking into consideration that we arrived well past midnight! The room had everything to make your stay easy and comfortable. The delicious breakfast buffet gave us day the boost our bodies needed to absorve the history and beauty surrounded us! The terrace hotel...incredible sights and deliciously prepared! And, soooo low price! All in all, a surreal experience!
