Excellent family friendly resort!Posted Sep 16, 2015
We had a wonderful stay at the Azul. The resort was incredibly clean, the food was good, and there were entertaining shows for the family every night. This is an excellent place if you have kids - the water slide park is a big plus. I would also recommend the suites - they are one bedroom apartments with a kitchen. Very spacious. The only negative was the construction noise - which happens when you travel off-peak. Otherwise, we had a wonderful trip and would return in the future.

Improve Each Day; My Son Wants to Return ASAPPosted Sep 9, 2015
Pros: Wish I knew it sooner, but YOU DO HAVE ACCESS to the Ixtapa Grand, which gives you the best of both facilities (stay there if you don't have kids).
Cons: Offer a FREE dinner to anyone interested in hearing about promotions; More options for those who do not eat meat at buffets; FLY CONTROL at buffets!
Location: 10 out of 10 stars for the view from our room; seems to have many options for activities, but with a 5 year old, the resort was enough for us.
Azul Ixtapa Grand and Resort are 2 hotels on the same property divided by a convention center. The hotel's reception and lobby are open to the outdoors and the weather is warm and humid. Our room's AC was initially blowing warm air, but a nice maintenance guy fixed it in about 20 minutes. Nice and cold, no problems after that! The Mexican-themed buffet was not appetizing and the flies were out in force. We also fended off an aggressive sales pitch to hear a 1 hr talk about promotions (we passed). The food at the Colores buffet was better, and the buffet at Azul Ixtapa Grand was fantastic (as was our dinner night at the Oyster). The eco-gym is awesome (worked up a great sweat compared to the air-conditioned gym at the Grand), the kids club and kids pool with slides was also fantastic (helps if your kid speaks Spanish, unless you go during a time of the year when Americans and Canadians take over the resort). The people, staff and guests, are all very friendly (mostly multi-generational families with children from Mexico during our stay; again, Spanish speaking skills is extremely useful at this resort). The nightly shows are put on by well-rehearsed, high-quality dancers (when the performances are indoors, they really need to turn on the AC for the audience and the performers). The beach leaves much to be desired, but if you go across to Ixtapa Island, the beaches are nicer. I enjoyed this resort more as each day passed.

Horrible pressure to become members.Posted Aug 9, 2015
Pros: The dance shows, the hotel and rooms where very clean, needed more towel's and they were brought up quickly,
Cons: Overall hotel was ok.
Location: Local buses where great. went to the dolphinarium and swam with the dolphins in the marina, Did some shopping in Zihuatanejo all streets are covered.
Wasted half a day of my vacation on a tour and presentation to become members at a price of 25,000.00 dollars. They tell you it will only be one hour of your time and it became 4 hrs. Will never do that again. They gave us a complimentary spa treatment to make up for the lost time. Had trouble with the Wi Fi connection. Not much seafood variety for being on the beach. Only different styles of cooked fish no shrimp, crab, oysters etc. Didn't care for the food. Beach front is to small. Pools were very clean. The snack bar was good. The waiters brought drinks on time. The hotel did have amazing dance shows and entertainment. I was unable to use the specialty restaurant because you need to make a reservation and our time was very unpredictable but the menu was about the same. Local buses where accessible if you want to go into town and do some shopping and site seeing. Locales where very nice.

Nice, clean, good food, ok alcoholPosted Aug 7, 2015
Great restaurant staff especially Raymundo(the Mexican restaurant) The oriental restaurant wasn't that great. Bartenders were a bit rude at times, especially the ones working at the lobby bar, all others were ok. Rooms were always well kept. Overall I enjoyed my 7 day stay.

Beach water was too merky. Did not get in the watrPosted Aug 3, 2015
Pros: Friendliness of all the staff. Very proffessional.
Cons: ventilation in the game room area.
staff was very friendly. I did not like the beach area, water was too merky did not go to the beach at all. I did not like the fact that I had to pay for my son to be able to do the putt putt golf. I think if it's there it should be available for anyone without a charge. Game room area was too hot maybe you can try to make it more accomodating for guests. Music in the lounge area was nice.
