Overcrowded with terrible food

Posted Feb 19, 2017
We arrived around 6pm and there was nowhere to sit near the pool and get a drink to relax after the flight. The beach area was also congested with the lounge chairs scattered all over the beach. Went to get food at the buffet and this was the worst food ever. We later found out they sell day passes to anyone not staying at the hotel. We cancelled our remaining nights and moved to a much better place for about the same price.

nice place

Posted Feb 9, 2017
Pros: it was close to the beach, and the shopping area was within walking distance. Vincente and Diana in the bar in the evening were great bartenders!!
Cons: more English speaking people, when the guests are primarily English at the front desk and shops inside
Location: playa linda beach and flea market along with Ixtapa Island are all very close.
pros-good food, nice variety, great pool and facilities.Right on the ocean. Views were great. we ate at 3 of the restaurants as our stay was 7 days. All were good. the band was great at night. cons-there was a smell in the halls, that permeated to the room. after day 2 or so, you don't notice it. Make sure you know Spanish! Also, they would not exchange US Dollars into pesos only Canadian money. I hate to say this, but as an African American couple, it definitely seemed we were passed over for the Canadians! the shows were pretty horrible though...lol

Horrible smell, hard beds, no beach and cold pools

Posted Jan 19, 2017
The hotel grounds are well kept. But there is a horrible foul odor throughout. The food is good but little variety. The buffet does not change. The drinks are not very good. The rooms are nice size and the views are great but the beds and pillows are super hard. The pools are nice and big and there's a lot of variety but they water is very cold for the little ones. The kids club is prettt cool with the park and and my kids are smaller so they went to the infant club and I do have to say they loved it and the staff was amazing. They had lots of activities for them and kept them entertained. Over all one of the least favorite hotels I've stayed at.

Very good hotel and good service

Posted Oct 25, 2016
Pros: Beach is very nice as well as the pools. Lots of entertainment and activities. Very friendly service.
Cons: The cost of wifi in room about $10 a day per smart phone or laptop. This is ridiculous and expensive!
Location: The beach, the crocodile habitat, para sailing, water sports
It is a nice all inclusive hotel. Very good and friendly service. Wifi is terrible and very expensive

major room renovations create unbearable noise

Posted Sep 25, 2016
Pros: shows were fun and food was good for a buffet.
Major room renovations created unbearable noise for guests in multiple buildings. Guests awoke to the sound of a jack hammers tearing out tile and marble flooring in the adjoining rooms. Work continues until after 6:30pm in many locations. Work was scheduled to continue for weeks. Unbearable noise.

Beautiful hotel, close to beach. A few problems

Posted Sep 7, 2016
Pros: Beautiful surroundings and pools
Cons: I felt we were placed in the building because we were the only Americans there
On arrival was told by the desk clerk that he was going to make an exception and give me a king size bed (which I had requested) and a view. However, I was not put in the main building but one adjacent to the convention center which housed the convention participants. The bed was low and the mattress was extremely hard. Each day the housekeeper would take our wash clothes and not return them until was asked. At the end of the convention, we notice that no one was on the elevators but us. It rained and getting to the restaurants meant getting wet as we were not in the main building. On the next to last day, we were told that we were the only people in the building and renovations would begin the next day and was offered a chance to move to the main building. We opted not to do so. The next day we were offered upgrade accommodations and told that we would have to move as we were the only occupants of the building and services would be suspended.

Gonzales Family Vacation 2016

Posted Aug 1, 2016
We had an incredible family vacation visiting Ixtapa. We were a bit disappointed in our resort but not in the customer service we received. I want to first emphasize on the category of stars this hotel deserves first. It is defintely not 4 to 5 star hotel for many reasons. The first reason the whole hotel is over populated because you have vacationers from the sister hotel Grand Azul Ixtapa using the pools, resuraunts, and hotel facility. We were restricted and did not have the same freedom to use their facility and pools. In addition to all the other vacationers we also had to share our hotel with others who purchased a 1 day pass for the hotel like a water park open to the paying public. I had an altercation with a women because she was trying to sit in our beach chair using the towels I brought to the pool. This women was a 1 day pass holder the hotel facility. Now let me focus on the facility itself NO Air conditioning in a lot of the areas in the hotel. None in the lobby, Bar/entertaining area, MOST of the restaurants or eating areas. We were very uncomfortable eating the heat was up and the humidity levels were extremely high. Now the best part and ONLY part that made our vacation memorable was the staff and the food. We had incredible service from the restaurants to the pool area. The pool staff Abelardo, Keny, Victor, Samuel, Jesus, and Ruben were extraordinary. The restaurant staff was great Antonio and Luis from the Terraza and the hostess a young girl at Colores
