Old place disappointing to say the least

Rooms are the most disappointing part. Small smelly and dated. Rock hard mattress. We don't like to complain , we just don't go back. Holiday inn is half the price , same food and getting updated. Go there instead

Nice Hotel

Great location, on a beautiful beach.

Pros: We liked the location and the size, not so big that you get lost.
Cons: I think the rooms need redoing, they are musty smelling, and very out dated.
Location: This was great.
Over all we had a good time, waiters are friendly, but you need more as we always had to find one for a drink. The food was good, many choices, the general area is very clean. Only complaint was the musty, old rooms, and too few waiters around the sitting area and pool area. The workers there are very friendly and give the best service they can, they put on many miles in a day, as bars, etc are too far away.

Barceló is a winner

Pros: Ample sized room with great view. Spacious lobby and dining areas. Excellent service.
Cons: Maintenance issues could be attended to more promptly. For example. we noticed and reported a loose tile in a hallway floor, not fixed yet.
Location: The location is excellent--close to the beach on the ocean side and downtown shopping and restaurants on the street side--all within walking distance.
My husband and I enjoyed our two-week stay at the Barceló. Initially, we were a little doubtful about an all-inclusive as we thought we would tire of the meal offerings. That was not the case. There were not only dining room options, but also a grand variety of food choices at every meal including fresh fruit and many vegetable salads. Access to the beach was easy although one had to rise early to mark prime beach and pool chairs. We noticed that the hotel was popular with all age groups--from retirees to families with young children.

Never again

Pros: Location
Cons: Organization
Location: Local market nearby
Total disappointment, not enough food at the restaurants, even sometimes no drinking water. No shadows at the beach, you have to pay for the umbrellas to local persons that charge you what they want. The hotel should have their own umbrellas for their guests..............

Oldfashioned with no recent mantainance

Cons: Overall organization............they cannot tell you 'there is no more, because it is in our stockroom and it is closed' and they told us that every
Location: Location is the only good thing about this place
Since the first day I started complaining. Almost one hour on line to make the check-in. At the restaurants, when some dishes were about to be finished, they didn't refill them. They had a coffe machine to prepare yourself different kind of coffees that didn't work. The icecream machine didn't work or they simply told us there was no more. One day they didn't even have drinking water and they gave us a cup full of ice and asked us to wait until it melted. If it is an all inclusive hotel and you go to a restaurant during it's schedule, you expect to receive the same offer as the guests who arrived one hour before you did....................never again.

Nice hotel close to the beach.

Pros: All inclusive! so we really enjoy breakfast to dinner and all the drinks you can get...the entertaining is the plus all day long they have something.
Cons: One thing, and is only the KEY room please DO something, our room was far from the front desk and THREE times we went back and forward to solved.

Barcelo, is one of the most comfy, homey hotel in Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo. Since my family and I arrived all the staff is ready to help us without overwhelm you also as you enter into the room everything is clean and neat with the sensation that you are in your own villa. The atmosphere is not exactly luxury at all but enough for your staying.

Good Vacation

Overall the hotel and the staff met our expectations, very good food and service. On the negative side WiFi should have been included in the price like most hotels chains. The restaurant Veranda due to the heat and humidity should have some ventilation fans installed.

Beach vacation

Hotel staff couldn't have been nicer - beach and pool area were excellent - good food
