Pros: Convenient location; good breakfast.
Cons: Unattractive carpeting in corridor.
Location: Right on main drag leading to main highway. Many shopping centers nearby.
Everything transpired according to plan; no issues.

Motel 6 With Better Carpeting

Posted Jan 20, 2017
Pros: The front desk person was very friendly and helpful, and everything was clean and neat.
Cons: Replace the bulbs in the lamps with warm LEDs, improve breakfast, and replace the fluorescent troffer in the bathroom with good warm wall sconces.
Location: Tons of shopping and grocery store directly across the street (though you'll have to drive there), downtown attractions are an easy drive.
I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express, and they're usually terrific - modern and comfortable, just not huge or extravagant. This one seems like it used to be a cheaper hotel that was bought and branded with the Holiday Inn name. The carpeting is nice, the bed comfortable, and the newly-upgraded shower tile was terrific. However, the bathroom ceiling light was a really bright 2'x4' fluorescent, which combined with white tile and a spartan white vanity/shelf made the bathroom feel like a medical examination room. The walls of the rest of the room were a plasticky rough texture that can probably be hosed down easily. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and towels nice, and I'm glad there was a desk to work at. However, the office chair for the desk was so low that the desk top wound up at chest height, making typing on a laptop awkward. There was one electrical outlet at the desk, one in the wall by the floor lamp, and one in the bathroom. Exactly enough for my laptop, phone, and watch to be charged, though it made me nervous to have my device sitting just a few inches from the sink while charging. Breakfast was minimal, the omelets looked and tasted like they were frozen and thawed, the sausage patties had very little flavor, and the paper plates were really flimsy. On the other hand, the mini muffins were good, there was milk and a good selection of juices, and a decent coffee bar. So overall, the hotel is OK, just not up to their usual standards.

Pros: I like the breakfast area and all its options. The beds were very comfortable.
Cons: Get rid of the musty smell in the room and greater attention to the breakfast area so guests are not left waiting for any items to be replenished.
The room had a musty, damp smell, but comfortable. The breakfast area ran out of some food items and once had to inform the desk about empty coffee pots.

Every staff member we spoke to was very kind and friendly. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was good, with a decent selection to choose from. The pool area was also kept clean.
