waste of time and money

Upon arriving at the hotel I noticed the MAJOR renovations on the outside of the blgd. so much that it was unclear where the front entrance was. Once entering the lobby it looked like the pics but I was never told by the staff that the St, Johns restaurant was closed for remodeling and the only place to eat at was in the hotel bar or room service. I was never informed that the pool was under construction and out of service. I attempted to use my room key to utilize the gym but that did not work and another hotel guest assisted me by letting me in. When I spoke with the staff at the front desk regarding my concerns, her only response was "I know I work here." Due to the potential landfall of Hurricane Matthew the staff (in the beginning) was not knowledgeable or helpful with procedures if an evacuation was to occur. After probing and question after question the staff would leave letters under guest door of potential shelters but had not plan on how to assist the guest to these locations if needed. I finally received a knock on my door during my second day and was told that I as a guest could stay over night but would possibly have to evacuate on Friday and find my own way to a shelter. Or if I choose to leave by 7pm I would not be charged for that days stay. It was 5 pm when she knocked on the door. I felt that the staff was not informed properly and could not satisfy me or put my mind at ease, therefore I choose to leave without every experiencing my full stay.
