We stayed in the equipped 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment is in poor repair, the toilet did not flush and we had no hot water the first night. Cooking full meals would be very challenging here, as the only utensils provided were 2 large serving spoons. No spatula, tongs, etc. and only 1 pot and one pan. The pool by the apartments is decaying and half the furniture was so decrepit it was not useful. The main pools were nice, the common area was well maintained in the main building, and the staff were friendly and spoke English. It is only a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast at The Public House down the street was lovely albeit a little pricey by CR standards. In room massage was nice and hotel staff will help you book it.

This is a beautiful hotel with nice pools and surrounded by wonderful plants and trees. The rooms are big and include a fridge which is very important in this hot country. Jaco beach, reastaurants and bars are 3-5 minutes walk. I have enjoyed my stay a lot.

Fantastic stay in Sept 23. Rooms are nice and having a kitchenette was a bonus. Hotel is located half a block away from the main busy street in Jaco. Very tranquil and yet close to everything. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great.

Stayed one night in the apartment passing through the area. Clean. Safe. Quiet. Upon check-in, prominent signs stated "no drugs" and "no prostitution." That about sums it up. Property and furniture a bit delipapidated, but good value. You get what you pay for. Pool was fun for the kids. Best part was the location to the beach, shopping, and restaurants.

Location of hotel was good and close to restaurants and stores. Pool had recently been upgraded and was very nice. Only negative were some dogs at the property that barked excessively.

Had a great stay. Owner/manager Victor was bery friendly. He went table to table each morning at breakfast to check-in with each guest to see how their stay was. Food was good. Staff was also very attentive. Made sure all my needs were met. 5 out of 5

Relaxing Spot in Busy Jaco
We checked in early & they were able to accommodate us. Lots of wildlife, very relaxing atmosphere, very friendly staff! They are willing and able to help book trips. Pool was nice, but not a hot tub (didn't matter just saying). Comfortable lounge chairs & pool/pool area was very clean. Room was cleaned daily, AC worked great & it had a fridge! Breakfast was amazing, easy walk to a lot of options but off the Main Street so VERY quiet. And very good value for the price. Would highly recommend and if we return we will return here.

The room was quirky-cute, clean, and comfortable. They staff were all very friendly and helpful. They helped me secure transport from and to SJO. The property is quiet and beautiful. I saw Macaws, iguanas, and a sweet kitty. It’s close to the main street and the beach. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The breakfasts were good (I’m not much of a foodie). My only minor issues were the occasional bug in the room, one morning the a/c got a bit icy, and the shower splashed out well into the bathroom. The pools are refreshingly cool. I only used the refrigerator in the kitchenette area to keep a few bottled drinks cold. The shower was nice and relaxing. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. I picked Hotel Mar de Luz on a whim and ended up very pleased.

Absolutely adorable. You'd never know this was there and so pleasing and sealed off when you approached it from the... alley? We needed an extra night in Jaco because our flight got moved a day early. We wanted a place close to dining so we could get some dinner after we got in, since it gets dark in a hurry in the tropics. This fit the bill and everything after that was a pleasant surprise.

Pick another hotel, the owner does not deserve your business, while the staff here are really great and helpful, the owner is nasty and really unpleasant. My lock broke so I could not get into my room, it took 3 hours to get the door open and I was trying to get some work done remotely which was a bit of a pain but things like this happen so that’s ok but on top of this I did not have a hot shower for 3 days as there was only cold water. On leaving I asked for some compensation for the no hot water and being locked out of my room and the owner agreed to a free night which was very fair. What he did not realize was that I was checking out so he would have to give me back money. Once he realized this he got angry told me categorically NO and told me to f**k off. He is an aggressive, nasty, rude, angry man. My advice is just don’t stay here there are many other hotels in Jaco that actually want your business and will be more professional.

Mr. Paulson, I read your message and this is my answer: Mr. Paulson asked for me and I (the Owner of the business) came to the desk to see him. He had two complains: first, he said there was not hot water in the room while he was checking out. If he would've said this in the beginning we would've solved this within one hour or less because we have maintenance staff available 24 hours. We made the investigations and there was hot water, three other rooms are connected to the same water system and we never had further complaints from other guests. Second, the lock, the maintenance man changed the door lock within half an hour while Mr. Paulson was in the swimming pool. When he started complaining he told me that if I was willing to refund he would write a nice comment about the Hotel if not would be the opposite. I was willing to give him an extra night for free for the "inconvenience" so that he could stay one more night with no cost. He immediately told me he wanted the last night money back, when I said it was not possible he became rude and said he will write a bad comment about the Business, we get many guests and I can tell you the vast majority is happy. Sorry that we couldn't please you Mr. Paulson.

Nice and friendly staff, easy access, parking, good location. Safe family oriented place, good value for the money. Staff speaks English, Spanish, a lot of visitors from Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Holland. Decent breakfast, small plazas restaurants and shopping store. Option of having kitchenette in rooms.

Nice family oriented, quiet and respectable. Owner super nice gentleman, name Victor. We talked, he offered us quite room and drop us off to other hotel for one night his hotel was fully booked. Next morning he picked us up check in 2 hrs before checking in, upgraded room, no extra charge. Highly recommend this Hotel. Definitely will stay in next time if in Jaco Costa Rica.

Very nice family hotel. The staff was nice and the owner was even kind enough to give us a ride to the bus station so we could carry on with the adventure. Also, if you don’t mind Iguanas you’ll have a chance to see a lot crawling around the property. They see, to be big fans of the watermelon leftovers the hotel provides them instead of throwing away after the complimentary breakfast. Personally I enjoyed their presence as they seem pretty chill.

The hotel is nicely kept clean and the grounds are beautiful. A delicious breakfast with unlimited coffee and juice. The AC units are newer and very quiet and cold. I like having a large fridge and basic kitchen. The shower is the hottest with the best water pressure I’ve experienced in 3 years in CR. You really can’t beat the location behind the craziness of the Main Street in a quiet and peaceful place!

Manager was awesome, he gave me some good advice and knowledge on my next destination. Really liked the decor in regards to the stone walls in the room and the high wood ceilings. Room was big and could have used a table and chair to sit at at night to do some computer work. Besides that everything was great and plan to revisit.

The service at the hotel was generally outstanding. In addition to all the many amenities of the establishment, one of the owners personally drove me to the hostpital after I got an injury wasn't on the Hotel grounds nor was I even still a guest at that point. Great stuff!
