The hotel was close to the old town which i wanted to explore. It was easy to walk to this older dutch influenced part of Kota district, with its square of museums and cafe Batavia. Hotel staff were friendly with an excellent concierge/greeter who fixed several issues (not of the hotel's making for me, including sending postcards, which no one seems to send these days, so others were a bit lost when I asked them for stamps). Quite a nice restaurant area with good choice buffet or ala carte menu. Bottles of Bintang were a little slow in coming but welcome when they did. Nice small swimming pool. Some re tiling was taking place but looks good. Spa not used but looked a bit pricey, but might have been worth it if authentic Indonesia treatments. Opposite is the Dutch bakery or Dunkin Donuts. Plenty of places to eat and two medium malls opposite over the busy street. If you want full 5 star in the middle of the business district maybe go to Jalan Tamarind (about 20 mins by taxi from Kota, when the traffic not too heavy) however this is a clean friendly hotel, with a bigger brother hotel 300 meters down the road ( I did not visit this one).
