Disappointing landmark experience

Posted Jul 10, 2017
Pros: Location, historical aspect.
Cons: Staff and Amenities.
Location: The island is beautiful and defiantly recommend it. Lots of biking. If you are looking for a place to unwind, Jekyll is your place.
I have to say I am really disappointed in this hotel. We booked with this hotel because it was our 10 year anniversary and wanted a nice place to stay. Don't get me wrong. Jekyll Island is amazing and we will defiantly be going back! The hotel was nice for a historic hotel but lacked many amenities. Also, on expedient, it says they have many amenities they don't. The pub is closed and the spa is closed. There is also no in room massage services and no mini golf on site. The grounds were nice but the staff were not good for the most part. The best service we got was at the Beach hut and the staff member who helped us fill up our bike tires. There were no towels on Saturday afternoon at the pool in July which is a service the advertise. Also, I ordered a drink and could have walked away and the server at the pool bar would have no idea. I stood there by myself for 10 min after she gave me my drink and she didn't even ask if I wanted to start a tab or cash out. I do not recommend staying here. The cost is too much to get staff with poor attitudes and who could care less about your stay.

Classic

This hotel is very historic, but as you might expect with something older some of the rooms may be a little on the small side.

We appreciate your feedback. We do have some rooms that are small, but not the majority. This used to be a hunt club for the very wealthy industrialists and financeers of the late 1880's. The smaller rooms actually used to be servents quarters. To maintain the historic significance we did not change those rooms. We have deluxe rooms with balconies as well as one bedroom suites. Try us again in the new future!

Old and ordinary Hotel

Posted Jul 10, 2017
Late check-in, very nice people, no spa, small room, ordinary food, sagging mattress, hot pool, fun croquet, sorry & expensive bike rental, and beautiful property

We do appreciate your feedback. Glad to know our team was nice and helpful-they are our #1 assest. I have passed your comments on to the General Manager for evaluation. Sounds like we fell short in an overall great experience.

My wife and I needed a get a way weekend to slow down and relax. This was perfect. The staff was awesome, the history and tours near by were not crowded and informative.

We are so happy to have provided the location for your relaxing weekend. This is definitely the place to be able to "slow down." It is nice to have a place near for getaways. Look forward to your next visit. Thank you for your comments.

Everything perfect except...

Posted May 12, 2017
The hotel is perfect mix of old school charm with updated amenities. Staff is excellent and personify southern hospitality. However, the wi-fi is terrible. In today's world, internet access is just as important as hot water...absolute necessity. Must upgrade, unless you're a parent and want your kids to unplug during vacation. But for a business traveler, totally unacceptable.

Magnificent step back in history

Posted May 9, 2017
I loved this hotel! What a gorgeous setting. The highlight was renting bikes at the hotel and touring the entire sparsely developed island. Also, sunsets are spectacular here - seeing the red sky over the water, through the live oak trees and Spanish moss. It was one of the loveliest sunsets I've ever seen! When we checked in they upgraded our room and gave us free breakfast passes for one day. The resort was very uncrowded. There was construction by the swimming pool but the workers toiled so quietly that it wasn't a problem.

We agree wholeheartedly with both the biking and the sunsets. The 20 miles of biking trails are easy to navigate and the island is so flat-it makes bicycling one if the top recreational activities. Also, you will never see a better sunset-color of the sky changes with the seasons-reds, pinks, blues, purples, orange and of course yellow. The construction at the Pool House restaurant will be complete in 2 weeks. We cannot wait to unveil it!

Beautiful Georgia island location

Posted Apr 23, 2017 on Ebookers
Pros: Beautiful position and grounds.
Cons: Décor in keeping period of property. Rooms could do with modernising.
This is a delightful spot for a short break on the Georgia coast. The hotel is beautiful if a little dated. We were visiting over Easter and the Sunday brunch was amazing - great quality and variety. Staff all very pleasant and there is plenty to do from relaxing by the pool, to cycle riding around the island or taking a Dolphin watching cruise around the bay.
