The hotel room was great the view was amazing the only thing I didn't like was the service at the restaurant fire & oak the service needs to improve. We got there the hostess said there were no tables available and the restaurant was almost empty we asked how long it's the waiting time she said 45 minutes then 5 minutes later she said there is a table available for you guys that table was always empty. Then the waiting brought us 2 glasses of water as per request and we ordered our food and wine and the waiter took forever to refill our glass of water other than that I was really happy with my reservation.

Short but sweet

Pros: This hotel is very convenient to the light rail, which we use to get back and forth to her apartment. The Newport mall is at our fingertips.
Location: It is located by the Newport Mall, by the waterfront, by many fine restaurants, near the light rail station.
My husband and I stay one night each week at the Westin so we can be available the next morning to babysit our new granddaughter. We don't get to take advantage of many hotel amenities in the short time we are there, but we love it enough to keep coming back week after week.

Awesome views, Awesome room

Pros: Room and staff
Cons: New Restaurant or stop cooking with curry.
Location: In walking distance to mall
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The hotel is very clean and the room was outstanding with awesome views. The only criticism I have is the Fire & Oak Restaurant. There service is slow and all the food has a hint of curry in it. Eggs should not have the taste of curry. Would never eat there again. Think the problem is they cook with curry and that seasons the pots and pans and gets into everything. HORRIBLE!!!! Dont waste your money if you don't like curry.

Convenient location

Clean and comfortable hotel , short walk to the PATH station and only two stops from lower Manhattan....good restaurant and hotel bar in lobby, I will stay here again.

Bad night at Westin A flaw with using Expedia?

Made my reservation same day as I needed the room. I made the reservation through Expedia. The room was expensive as hotel was apparently almost sold out. Roughly double the price I paid last visit there. I was given room 302. I was exhausted having traveled cross country and needed a good night rest. however, room 302 was right outside and next to a meeting room. Guess what, a large loud group shows up at the meeting room around 7 AM. No rest for me. I call front desk. Too late to change room , but an adjustment to rate was offered. As I checkout I ask for final bill. Management gave me a 28$ adjustment on a room that cost 12 times that. So insulting! I demanded more, and was offered tho have my breakfast for two which was 58$ ( ouch) removed from bill. I still was not satisfied, but front desk said no further credits as I paid for room through Expedia, so they claim they didn't know the price I paid, so no further credit possible. Why is that Expedia and Westin? I paid for a quiet room , I didn't get it. That room should not be rented to anyone let alone at that rate per night!!

Nice Hotel

I'm disappointed that I reserved a king room and when I arrived i was told no kings were available and after complaining and getting a manager what do you know. They found a king room. While waiting king rooms we're still listed in multiples on Expedia. The hotel is what you would expect from the Westin brand. The breakfast was horrible, I opted to order from the menu and not the brunch. The wait staff to basically all but the Corned beef Hash from the brunch and served it to me. Go outside the hotel for better breakfast and cofffee

Excellent Hotel with View of NYC Skyline

Although we stayed for a very short time, we were impressed by the efficiency and courtesy of the staff, the cleanliness of the room as well as the public areas of the hotel. The location is fantastic: Downtown JC, close to many restaurants and to the PATH to New York.

Great Staff

Pros: Location, staff
Cons: More control of the temperature in the deluxe rooms with all the windows.
Location: 15 minutes by PATH to the World Trade Center and the METRO to go anywhere in New York. You can also access the ferry close by. Mall around the corner.
Our vacation became a bit of a stressful situation. The management and staff was very helpful and caring. We didn't ask for anything special, but they took very good care of us and that was GREATLY appreciated. We ended up with any extended stay. Our primary booked room had a beautiful view of the Freedom Tower. The only downside in that room is that one wall is all window to take in the view and even though it was October it became very warm in the room. The thermostat was set to a specific temperature and you were only allowed a 30 minute over ride. During the night it became stuffy. The bar area and couch seating were very inviting and the staff very attentive. They have very good appetizers as well. Easy access to the PATH for easy transport into New York. And when additional clothing was needed, the mall and Macy's was just around the corner.
