Doing it right to begin with vs fixing afterwards

Posted Jan 30, 2018
Pros: Central location, beautiful rooms, excellent food and the decades long relationships we have with some of the senior staff.
Cons: Room cleaning inadequate, washing supplies not replenished, magnetic room keys stop working. Waiters walk - empty-handed - by tables full of dishes.
Location: 10 min walk to "tourist trap" shopping; close to Western Wall, museums 15 minute ride away. Nice open green area right next door.
My family and I have stayed at this hotel dozens of times over more than 30 years. After a significant drop in service and facility quality some five years ago, the hotel's management has made significant improvements to the room furnishings and decor as well as the lobby and public spaces. The food is excellent across the board; proximity to Jerusalem's center is probably the main reason why we continue to return. It's unfortunate that the experience continues to be marred by some poor service experiences. An excellent recent addition to the staff is Ronit, who has the ability to remedy all issues - but it's always after the fact. And all that said, yes, we'll be back.

Very nice hotel in a great location

Posted Sep 11, 2017
My daughter and I spent five nights here. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely return. It was within walking distance of about 12 minutes to ben yehuda street and to mamilla mall. It was about 25 minute doable walk to the kotel. The staff was great, (special mention of Samih in the dining room). The breakfast was great and I was extremely pleased with the incredible selection of the Shabbat meals offered. They have 2 Shabbat elevators, with each one stopping on either even or odd floors but not both, which makes using them on Shabbat a lot more convenient. . The room was very nice. I don't know if it was renovated or not, but it looked like it was worth what we paid for. The sheets were heavenly and the beds were very comfortable. the only reasons I did not give it a five star rating are that our room, had a musty sort of smell when you came in (if you opened the window for a few minutes it was fine). As well the toilet had a funny smell . I think it must have been coming in from the pipes. Lastly, our room was almost directly across the elevators so we could hear the people waiting for them at 6am. Solved that by wearing ear plugs. We stayed in room 1108. Having said thiat I would still recommend the hotel, just ask for a renovated room away from the elevators.
