This hotel has seen its best days. It’s tired and desperately in need of a refresh. The charming old work decor is tacky and out dated. The staff were so nice but often lack competence. E’g bringing room service but forgetting the cutlery. At these prices everything should be first class. The pool and garden are fabulous. A perfect oasis. There is nothing nearby to eat or go out. You’ll need a taxi. The food was also very disappointing. Very poor standard considering their target market.

Excellent in every way. Nice room and room service. Nice restaurants and food service. Superb swimming pool. Beautiful grounds. 15 minute walk to old city. Will definitely stay there again.

One of the hotels ever
This place is impeccable from the service to the food to the historical relevance and decor. Youssef the concierge was professional and accommodating (and patient!) from the first email and Imad in the Courtyard restaurant was as well. The shops on site are top notch and oooohhh the food!!! One of the best hotels we have ever had the pleasure to stay,

A unique property with local flair and an intriguing history. Our room was very well equipped and had a wonderful terrace overlooking a small garden of the hotel. The restaurant was wonderful, as was the bar. Well worth s stay.

The American Colony Hotel is an exceptionally beautiful and unique hotel that will please both the novice and sophisticated travelers. This is one of those hotels that will leave you breathless in it’s beauty and surroundings, and it will be one of those special hotels that you will be pleased you stayed at, as well as, look back with fond memories. Everything is top notch, exquisitely detailed, and well thought out in a peaceful garden surroundings. You will be transferred away into a Zen like state of mind and body. Your only regret will be that you will eventually have to leave. But fear not, you will always have the next stay to look forward to once again in the near future. Beautiful oasis in Jerusalem! We loved our stay here and will return. The grounds are lovely and a great change from the larger hotels. The cellar bar is charming, the many seating areas encourage you to linger and enjoy the beautiful place. Our room was very spacious and comfortable.

This hotel is what it claims to be. Its gardens are beautiful, the buildings are historic and in excellent condition. The food is good and plentiful. We rented a suite, and the view from our suite was outstanding, as it was on the fourth (European 4th, American 5th) floor. The staff was accommodating and friendly, and otherwise unobtrusive.

The American Colony Hotel is a hidden gem in Jerusalem. I booked it based solely on positive reviews but it was so much more than that. First, it’s a historic hotel that still reflects the beauty and charm of when it was built. This was our first trip to Israel and we had no perspective on Jerusalem or what locations were both safe and convenient. Sited at the intersection of East and West Jerusalem, we loved the hotel’s location because it was easy to walk to sites in the old city of Jerusalem but it was outside of the noise and chaos of the most touristy areas. We stayed in a Pasha Deluxe room in the old hotel with a balcony overlooking the hotel’s beautiful pool and the view was lovely. Most importantly, the entire staff…from the front desk to the bell men, housekeeping staff, wait staff, and the concierge…were all focused on providing great service during our stay. I relied heavily on the concierge to arrange tours with private guides and transportation. The concierge staff was knowledgeable and responsive in answering questions quickly and in planning the excursions we wanted during our stay. Our guide for two days, Emil, was incredibly knowledgeable and professional as was our driver, Faisal. There is also a wonderful bookstore and antique and textile store on the hotel grounds if you have downtime for browsing. We are so happy we found The American Colony Hotel for our first stay in Jerusalem…we’ll definitely be back!
