Super Ambiente mit toller Atmosphäre

Posted Aug 22, 2015
Pros: Die Gärten und der Service.
Cons: nichts
Location: siehe oben

Great place within easy reach of Old City

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Pros: An individual charm and style, but with all the comforts. You wouldn't forget it, it has it's own sense of place and history.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: Easy 10minute walk to Damascus gate of Old City
Thoroughly enjoyable stay over four days. The reception staff very accommodating, managed to arrange rooms next to our friends and with an upgrade. Fabulous rooms. Breakfast, a lot of choice. Decent sized pool for relaxing around or swimming lengths. Beautiful gardens. Great time there.

A private oasis

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: The hotel itself is beautiful and has far more character than any of the equally expensive business hotels in the area.
Cons: It misses the mark of a 5 star US/Europe experience but I think it is better that way, a perfect microcosm of place and time.
Location: 5 minute walk to the Damascus gate and the most historic city on planet earth.
I have not stayed anywhere else in Jerusalem but I will be staying here again when I return. The hotel takes you back in time in much the same way as the old city of Jerusalem. The pool is in an enclosed old stone courtyard with chilly (but welcome in the summer) water, lounge chairs and palms. Daily prayers ring out from mosques across the city. Meals can be taken in an enchanting tree ensconced court or on the hillside garden. Cuisine covers local and western pallets and enjoyed everything we ordered (dining in 5 of the nights we were there). There is a small but functional gym and the Damascus gate to the old city is a 5 minute walk away. The service is relaxed but always friendly. Combined the surroundings, amenities, rooms and service will perfectly compliment a visit to Jerusalem.

Great Hotel Located in East Jerusalem

A little bit far for tourist looking to go to the Old City or Mamilas Mall. But overall great hotel, staff and good rooms.

Charm and History

Posted Jul 8, 2015
Pros: Much more charm and warmth than big, modern hotels, this is a mid-sized historic landmark.
Location: The historic Old City of Jerusalem is within walking distance, or a quick cab or tram ride away.
The American Colony Hotel is a charming historical landmark within walking distance to the Old City of Jerusalem. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the lovely courtyard, the amazing breakfast, and the wonderful outdoor Summer restaurant. After long days of sightseeing, splashing in the pool was a welcome and refreshing way to rejuvenate. The service and setting were first rate. One of the highlights of an amazing Middle East vacation!

Beautiful piece of history in a historic city

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: History, ambiance, pool, friendly staff, food, local wines, gardens
Cons: A hot tub would be nice
Location: Old city of Jerusalem, modern downtown area of west Jerusalem, garden tomb, Arab market areas
My wife and I stayed at the American Colony Hotel during our visit to Jerusalem and were completely satisfied with every aspect of the stay. The first thing we did after checking in with the friendly desk manager and enjoying some champagne was to explore the hotel and learn about the unique history of the facility as we learned where each of the amenities were. The place is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city where you can relax in the pool or in any of the gardens. We saw samples of the fruit trees a that dot the Mediterranean region and enjoyed some delicious food and wine as we chatted with the friendly staff. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained and the other guests were very friendly as we met some nice families also touring the area. The short walk to the old city and downtown area of west Jerusalem meant no taxis needed. We will certainly stay here again where come back.

Ein wunderschöne Enclave in einer turbulenten Stad

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Sehr netter Empfang, tolles Zimmer, wünderschönes Ambiente, excellentes Restaurant!

Great character, nice pool, four star facilities

Posted Jun 3, 2015
Jerusalem without the propaganda. Brusque but competent service, characterful clean rooms, and a strong sense of place and history. A lovely courtyard and a refreshing pool that closes too early. We will go back.

Interesting hotel,a pleasant change from the usual

Posted May 10, 2015
Pros: Nice departure from the modern high rise city hotel
Cons: Evening daily dinner menu to be offered as well as a la carte menu and snack menu.
Location: Old City and modern shopping centre within walking distance of hotel.
A few minor suggestions .No mirror in bedroom or sitting room/ bedroom.Daily dinner menu was never offered to us.We found out by chance on the third night of our stay of it's existence !Staff extremely helpful and friendly.Garden surroundings and places to sit added to the charm and ambience of the layout and buildings.
