I like the location - near the Old City. I don't like the bathroom wherein you can find mildew in several areas on the walls and floor. The room was very small for 3 adult persons. On our first night, there was no person on the reception desk.we called several times but no answer.

4 nights exploring Jerusalem and Bet Lehem
I wanted something in keeping with the area and not a sterile chain hotel and this was it. I liked the location on the slope of Mount Olive, passing by Gethsemane as I usually walked in and out of the city - with Bus stops close to the Hotel if required. Room was big enough, comfy bed, decent shower and A/C plus a safe that was actually easy to use for a change :) I liked the basic but good breakfast but not entirely impressed with plastic/styrofoam beakers/cups but compensated by cooked to order omelettes.

This hotel was disgusting and is below any human standard. The sheets were stained and the replacement sheets were so old they had tiny balls on them from being washed so much. There is NO WIFI except in the lobby. Not only did I sleep in my clothes but I could not turn off the lights because the switch was connected to the outlet and when it was turned off you cannot charge laptop/phone. If you’re not a member of the Addams family go elsewhere cause this place is a DIVE!! The parking lot was a trash pit and the whole place was just downright creepy and unsafe for a single woman. Run, don’t walk to ANY OTHER hotel or sleep outside. The dirty ground will def be cleaner.

TIRED
Was very difficult to pull this hotel up on google maps, I don't know why. A taxi driver refused to take us because he couldn't find the place either. When we did get a driver, he also had some difficulty locating the hotel. The sidewalk and outside entrance was very dirty and uninviting.....cigarette butts and trash all over. Not pleasant. The bathroom was modern and updated, but the furniture definitely needed to be updated. The carpet was absolutely filthy and worn. This hotel needs some work and would not stay here again until some renovations are done. The positive was the staff, they were extremely helpful and courteous.

The staff deserves 10 stars, I was so impressed by the friendly and helpfulness of the staff. They made of our stay a great experience. Layla, Yusef, Mustafa and the young ladies at the front desk were awesome, they went above and beyond to help us. They are conveniently located at the Mount of Olives and accessible to public transportation, very close to the Old City. I will definitely come back to the Commodore Hotel.

Helpful staff, friendly, Room was OK (but small), complained about late night construction work and loud drilling and banging noises from kitchen below, which they kindly stopped around 11pm. Windows could do with superior sound insulation, being woken up early hours for Muslim early prayers from loud speakers close by was frustrating. Also annoying, they had no evening meal / dinner service, do to lack of guest numbers, only serve dinners when they have booked tour groups in the hotel. Otherwise a comfortable stay.

The only good thing about this hotel is that is close by to the old city of Jerusalem but staff are good people and the breakfast was fair but what i didn't like was the loud siren stlye Muslim Pryer at 5 in the morning and 6 and at noon and at 5 evening that blast right Thur the room at all part of the day and I mean no offense but I love my sleep and that didn't sit well with me and the dirty stares because it's a Muslim community all around and there is a tense conflict with other Faith's which I think is fair to state because people come and don't know what there in for plus the room carpets need upgrade bad to much dust in the room... And with that it's fair to say I will not be coming back....

If felt good.
I enjoyed this hotel. It is located in a relatively quiet area of the Mount of Olives, close to Gethsemane Gardens. The staff is very courteous and the family who runs the hotel (an Arabic family) is very educated and makes you feel welcome. Although the room is standard, the breakfast is great with several kinds of humus and spreads. The hotel is in a Muslim neighborhood, and we could hear the prayer call on the loudspeaker (It was Ramadan) but it feels safe.

Jerusalem holiday
Hotel met expectations. Staff were helpful friendly and available at all times. Only downside was that the location was not within good proximity of cafe/restaurants if on foot and which would also involve hilly terrain. However, this is hardly the fault of the hotel which we would definitely reccomend.

The staff here are very helpful. The hotel is in a Muslim neighborhood which is for a much more authentic stay than being in the touristy part of town. Right beside The Old City. The hotel was amazing. Fresh hot breakfast buffet!! The only down side the internet was not always very reliable and there was no hot water for one day when the hotel filled up. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice quiet stay!

Walking distance to Temple Mount
The best aspect about this hotel was that it was within walking distances to Temple Mount and other significant tourist attractions. A mere 20 minute walk and you're at Damascus Gate, the best gate for seeing Temple Mount. Plus, it was close to the Tomb of the Virgin Mary among other places. The hotel itself was solid, good service, friendly and the room was fine. I docked a star and am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because they have no business center despite claiming it on the website and having a brochure that says they do. For me, this was important as it was one of the reasons I booked this place in the first place. So just keep in mind this hotel doesn't have a business center.

Clean, Comfortable
It is great hotel for someone wants to just sleep there and get moving doing other things. very clean, comfortable, and staff are nice. According to US standards, this hotel would be a 3 star not 4. They need to improve providing room necessities to be 4 star hotel. But overall, it was a great stay for the price. I would for sure come back again.

Good location with friendly staff
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. If you stay at this hotel, catch the bus from outside the hotel to the main station and you can get to Bethlehem the Dead Sea etc from there. If you are not the type of person who eats rice and vegetables for breakfast, tell them and the chef will happily make some other options. Enjoyed my stay, only down point was I expected a double bed not 2 singles

fine except for wierd power shutoff
to my surprise and lack of research the hotel was located in east jerusalem and i had doubts about my safety. everything was fine and the free breakfast was excellent. unfortunately i gave room comfort the lowest rating because without movement everything including the heat turned off in thirty minutes.it was january and the room was probably 55f. I called the desk twice and was told thats how it works. on checkout i mentioned it again and was told it could have been circumvented! i do notknow what to think. neighborhood was ok except there was a huge amount of garbage in the field next store and across the street. there is frequent and cheap bus service to damascus gate or its a very nice walk.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, when we arrived at 11:30. They gave us our keys to the rooms straightaway, considering check in time is 3:00. Walking up to the temple is a mission as its uphill. It's away from the old city and restaurants. There is a pizza shop close by.

A day off the cruise ship
We were on a 14 day cruise and had a two day stay in port. Instead of traveling back and forth to Jerusalem which is 1.5 hours from town and $100US taxi ride we opted to stay at the Commodore Hotel in Eastern Jerusalem. It is within walking distance from the Herod Gate. The bus 75 which stops right in front of the hotel was much faster and very convenient. The hotel is isolated unless you have a car but for one night it was great. Breakfast was one of the nicest we have had in some time. The best part about the hotel is the front desk. We forgot our converter on the boat and they very quickly found us one. We were given a complete overview of the area and it make us feel more at home. Being in the Muslim area of the city outskirts one got a very good feeling of being in an exotic location but feeling very safe. Nothing like walking the streets of that fable city after all of the tourists have gone. .

Rooms were clean, but small. They have individual climate controls, but sadly these are locked. Internet was unavailable - front desk said it would resolve, but didn't. They provide breakfast and have dinner service(billed). They were quite friendly and tried to be helpful. In all, all I can recommend is it'll do in a pinch.

Modest rooms, but modern and great place to stay!
This was in the Arab quarter and so a really good place t stay during Jewish Sabbath. Also very close to many of the Christian sites. Also hotel has small rooms and beds, but is very new and well maintained and clean. Overall I would recommend it as it as great value for the price. We got rooms for $100 a night.

4-star equivalent except for room size
My wife and I just spent two nights at the Commodore. After reading some of the reviews, I was concerned to learn that we had been placed there after a blind bid online. However it was much better than expected. While traveling around Israel and the Palestinian territories in the preceding days with a tour group, we stayed in a number of 4-star and even one 5-star hotel. The Commodore was a match for most of them except that the rooms are small. Without exception the staff bent over backward to accomodate us. First, when I explained that my wife and I use CPAPs to sleep at night, they immediately disabled the motion sensor system in our room. Breakfast the first day (Saturday) was great -- good coffee, fried eggs or omelette on the food bar, too many choices to name. An attendant was there constantly to make sure everything was replenished. Unusual in our experience in Israel was that they also had a fruit bar. The second morning (Sunday) must have been the cook's day off, because the quality of the meal was far below the previous day. This was the day we had to go to TLV for our flight out of the country. Coincidentally it turned out to be the day of a massive demonstration by the Ultra-Orthodox Jews. They closed down Jerusalem (including all collective taxis) and even closed the highway to Tel Aviv! The staff at the Commodore made sure we got a private taxi and that we left early before things got bad.
