Uncomfortable room temp and maintenance issue
Room temperature was very uncomfortable - fan/air conditioner was ineffective. Told in process of renovating which does not add to the comfort of my stay Plug next to bed was not the right size. Needed an extension cord for a medical device I needed to use. Got less than an hours sleep.

Good value, close to the airport.
I am a frequent visitor at this hotel. Everybody knows me and is friendly and helpful. However if you don't like to be waken up early in the morning by overflying planes, find another place.

Convenient location and super staff
Overall fair. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly and outperformed the hotel itself which looks a little worn. The hotel is handy for access to malls, major arterials and the airport. Would recommend and would stay there again.

A very convenient stop over
Maybe not the place to stay long term but very convenient for people using the airport. You have to enjoy planes as they sweep very low over the hotel and may frighten some folk!

A perfect stay for business and very easy access to the airport, my rooms air-conditioner was unfortunately broken so i had a very hot and uncomfortable sleep,but would otherwise recommend it

Deceptive name of hotel
I booked this hotel thinking it was at the airport, but it isn't. The name of the airport is highly deceptive. Also, the staff at the desk led me to waste $45 on a fruitless trip to East Gate Mall. Arriving at the hotel, I discovered I had left my laptop charger on the plane. The staff directed me to East Gate Mall and call a taxi I paid $45.00 for. Arriving at the mall at 6;30, all the shops that sold chargers has already closed at 6.Otherwise the hotel is OK. I left at 4:00 the next morning and they made me a sack breakfast that was good for about 2.5 breakfasts!

Impossible to rest, planes fly right above you and at all times. If it weren't for thus I would have said it's ok but you can't get over the noise!!!!

Great for a 24 hour layover
Stayed in standard room with 2 double beds with wife and two children. Close to the airport. Hotel shuttle easy also provided shuttle to local shopping mall. Aircraft noise not a problem at night, flights must be restricted. Food OK,

Hotel shuttle operates only once per hour, this is inadequate - needs to be once every 1/2 hour as it used to be before takeover by Legacy Hotels. Maintenance of hotel rooms not very good - my air conditioner did not work, and, also, door of shower cubicle not fastened properly, came out of track while I was showering

Handy enough location - 12 minute shuttle bus from Terminal A arrivals - and a typical and comfortable Western style corporate hotel room. Great welcome from the front desk team. Very satisfying breakfast.

Convenient overnight transit stay
We have enjoyed numerous transit overnight stays at the Airport Grand Hotel.. The shuttle stop is convenient to the international terminal and the drivers were on-time and courteous. Buffet breakfast was great!

Convenient for a short stay between flights
I booked this hotel for a transit stay between flights in OR Tambo. The property is some 10 minutes away from the airport, and they offer a convenient hourly shuttle service. In our case, with a late arrival and an early departure to the airport, it was convenient enough. Yet, the property itself looks rather run down - dirty-looking carpets, old bathroom appliances. The breakfast offer is pitiful - even though it was included in our rate, we chose to just go the the airport and have a bite there. Overall, not a bad experience if all you need is a place to rest while on transit.

Non smoking room??
Got a non smoking room, but in the middle of the night my room smelled of smoke. Had to turn the exhaust fan on the remainder of the night to get rid of the smell.

Most Pathetic Place in Johannesburg (Probably the World)
From being I was not Booked, Then the room I was given was incorrect and I was not able to change, the Staff were pathetic (Including the Head of the Hotel); worst of all VALUABLE ITEMS were STOLEN from my room: - After Reporting valuable items going missing on the Day before my Checkout (Saturday 30/11/13) , I was under the impression that this hotel had taken my issue seriously as my Identity Book, Money, My Twist E-Cigarette, with Charger, Refills and the Box were removed from my room whilst out for 30 minutes. - On the Day of my Checkout (Sunday 01/12/13) I was again reassured that this issue will be thoroughly investigated. -On Monday - late afternoon, I received a Call from the Head of Security stating that I will be kept abreast of things daily. -Tuesday goes by, so I try calling him again at 16:00, he was not able to take my call. I left a message and my number for him to call me back, yet I never head from him that day. -On Wednesday @ 13:00, I still haven't heard anything back from Head of Security, so I call the hotel asking for him. Yet again, he was unable to take my call. But promised to call me back, again I left my Number. -Thursday, I phoned in and become adamant to speak to the Hotel head, so after 1hour of waiting I was through to The Had of Hotel Matters. According to her (whom i've never heard from or of), the investigation was inconclusive and there is NOTHING more! An investigation held 3days after the incident? I'd like to see this report...

Great Stay for overnight in Jo'Burg
I use this hotel several times a year as I travel through Johannesburg with a layover. They offer a free airport shuttle that runs every 30 minutes from just across the way from the airport exit. The hotel staff is professional and courteous. They do offer a voucher for 6 hours of internet either in your room or the business center for free. Room service is a bit slow, but the food is fine. The included breakfast buffet in the morning is always a feast. It is usually the best meal I have in Africa. There is always hot eggs, potatoes, bean, cereals, yogurts, juices, pastries, meats, etc. There is also a free shuttle that runs to the airport every hour. If you like to shop, the East Rand Mall is also just across the street...but I do not recommend walking. One of the only draw backs is that it can be noisy as it is just near the airport.

A Very Pleasant and Convenient Stay
The Airport Grand Hotel was beautiful and comfortable with a very pleasant, helpful staff. I enjoyed the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast, and the shuttle service was particularly helpful to me. I enjoyed my stay there and would return if ever in Johannesburg again.

Excellent value for money. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was outstanding. A conference room with free internet was most convenient. We did not use the pool. Housekeeping was excellent and so was the the free airport shuttle service.

Very reasonably-priced hotel near the airport. However, the hotel is very close to the airport and in the exact line of approach as plane come in for landing. Can be very noisy with constant planes overhead.

Clean & comfy, but a huge shadow came over the room every time a plane went over, not to mention the noise - thankfully not overnight. No suitcase -holder in the std dble room. Breakfast was good. Shuttle only runs one per hour, which is disappointing and only runs 0600-2300, so if your flight is outside this time you'll need to pay for a cab. Guy checking in with us was not happy!

Value-add was average. Staff were exceptional
We used it twice when passing through... One night, then 3 nights. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel, and will us it again when next in Jo’Burg. Convenient to the airport, with the clean courtesy bus and friendly driver. The online price was excellent. Complimentary breakfast buffet, including made-to-order omelettes was excellent. Dinner in the dining room was excellent... Delicious and great value. Disappointing the free WiFi didn’t work in our room, but was fine to use from the foyer lounge or couches in the Business Centre. No fridge (ice bucket) was a frustrating. Staff were outstanding... Friendly, helpful and efficient. Directly under the flight path, created some noise (might be a problem if you’re easily bothered by it), but offered some entertainment watching the planes come in. Easy walk to shops and cinema... Factory outlets and a good-size shopping centre/mall.

Noisy in my room
I stayed in the hotel two weeks ago with the window to the patio and it was good. This time I got a room with a window to the street which didn't give us a chance to sleep from 4 in the morning because of the noise. So consider taking rooms only with windows to the patio.

Great accommodation near airport
On our South African holiday we had 3 nights followed by two single nights at this hotel. At all times we found the standard of the hotel and its staff to be excellent. On our return nights (the two single nights) we were greeted as old friends! It is excellent value for money, and the convenience of the dining room was valued as the general vicinity is not ideal for going away from the hotel of an evening if you do not have your own transport. It is very secure and while there is some noise from planes landing, it does not disturb sleep and passes very quickly.

Another Overnight Stay
This was about our 10th overnight stay over the years. As usual everything was very good to excellent. The only thing I missed having was the evening buffet - which was replaced by a menu. The food was very good.

Convenient to Airport and Great Hotel!
The Airport Grande is a very nice hotel close to the Johannesburg Airport. They offer a free shuttle service to and from the airport. The atmosphere of the hotel is very inviting, rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. The onsite dining is very good! A delicious breakfast buffet is included in the cost of the overnight stay. I have stayed here many times and have booked rooms for others who are traveling through Johannesburg. I highly recommend this hotel for a good night of sleep and great food when passing through JoBurg on the way to another destination!
