It's in a nice location, lots of restaurants to choose from, all within walking distance. It was very easy to get an Uber ride from the hotel, pleasant staff.

It was only for a night which I enjoyed. In terms of service it's not. Rooms large enough and relaxing. Enjoyed the choice of the shower or bath. A little tlc needed thou just to give it a cleaner look.

Very bad location, the internet does not work and did not solve the problem. Cost too high for hotel standard, ie cannot be considered four star.

Good value for the money. It is a contemporary resort. It has friendly service and a nice little restaurant on the premises. What I cared least for was the neighborhood and noise.

The Room was clean and neat. . however there was no water in the room. When we request water it was closed. The shower drain is blocked. I forgot to mention it to the personnel. They need to give it attention. The parking area in the basin was really scary. I wont recommend that to anybody. The personnel was fantastic. both when we checked in and when we checked out the following morning. The breakfast was really delicious. overall we enjoyed the stay.

Our stay at Ascot, was comfortable. We had the standard rooms off the main entrance which were initially noisy due to the close proximity to local restaurants, this soon quitened as the night progressed. Breakfast was lovely and the staff most helpful. We found the hotel to be good value for money.

Nice, clean hotel in a safe neighborhood with many restaurants. Good breakfast and very pleasant staff. On check-in, they requested my credit card and then immediately charged me for 2 nights. I had to point out that I had already paid in full through Expedia.They immediately credited my Visa but just beware...

We had a fantastic 6 night stay. There are a few options for breakfast and the service is always friendly and welcoming (great cappuccino!). Be sure to close out your evening at the bar where we had great conversations and enjoyed live music (as well as generous pours on the G&T). The hotel is on Grant Street and surrounded by a number of restaurants, shops, and close to a grocery and pharmacy. Head over to The Factory and the Fireside Bistro for upscale, but affordable, meals. You are a short walk from the satyagraha museum and an Uber ride gets you to museums, breweries, and more in only 15 minutes. You cannot go wrong by staying here. I will be back in Joburg a few times over the next few years for work and will not stay anywhere else.

Nice clean room, had a nice driver named Raymond, breakfast came with the room and it was good. There is a mainstreet nearby that had many other restaurants, we went to the Ethiopian restaurant next door.

Hotel was very comfortable and very clean. Two things that are important to me is whether the beds are comfortable and the shower is great! The bed had clean white linen and was very comfortable. The shower was great except the first night there was no hot water as there was a problem with the geyser which was handled very well by the very friendly staff, Andre was very friendly and went out of his way to help.

Great service
Beautiful hotel, excellent staff and very welcoming. Day spa was wonderful and loved the room service menu and free wifi. My only complaint is the evening noise and I was not prepared for the social scene the hotel is located in. I was a bit put off on the area when I arrived as I did not expect a 4 star hotel to be have those surroundings as the website images did not show that. The evenings are quite noisy in the streets, especially on Saturday the 18th there was partying, very load music and socialising in the hotel restaurant and streets till after midnight. As I was there on business and had early morning meetings I did not appreciate the noise and partying. The rooms do not filter out the noise as, my room 7, has a clear gap in the patio door frame letting all the noise in. I also kept the curtains drawn as the block of flats opposite the hotel's entrance is quite an eye sore and made me feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately I could not get a good nights rest in for my early morning meetings and I arrived quite tired back in Cape Town on Sunday. Other than that, the hotel is beautifully furnished, the finer touches are appreciated and your staff are excellent. It's really just the noise and location was a bit off for me! Friendly and Comfortable

Great evening at the Ascot
Great evening spent at the Ascot Hotel. Great value. The are however two small thing I would like to mention, Lighting was not good in the room. I am a 6'0" gentleman and found the shower small.

Modern hotel in good location
The Ascot staff was helpful and incredibly friendly. The facilities were really clean and inviting and the private parking was comforting. The only qualm I had was that the king size bed was actually two twin XL beds pushed together. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel suited our needs for the 2 nights we were in Johannesburg. The room was small, nowhere to sit except on the bed. Bed comfortable with adequate bedding. All in all it was fine for a short stay but I couldn't see myself spending more than 2 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. The city views that were touted on the website were not inspiring at all.

Although smoking was not allowed in the rooms, it was allowed on the balcony resulting in the room smelling very smokey. Staff were very helpful & we moved rooms to a much less smokey room. Local area - we felt a little vulnerable walking at night to nearby eating places.
