Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly. Meal standard good.
Spent two nights at the hotel prior to catching the train to Cape Town. Didn't venture out on our own but enjoyed an escorted day out seeing Johannesburg , Soweto and the Anti Apartheid Museum.

Many bedrooms have not been refurbished and are dated and uncomfortable. The gardens are beautiful and the gym and swimming pool are good. Nevertheless the restaurant and reception staff seem to spend a lot of time talking loudly to each other.

Pros: The atmosphere of peacefulness.
Cons: I enjoyed my stay as it is and cannot think of anything to be improved.
Location: The location is central to the airport and shopping at the nearby malls of Killarney and Eastgate. Easy to get anywhere in joburg.
This hotel has a lovely character and emits a serenity the minute you you step into the lovely, well kept gardens. It is majestic and well kept reminiscent of a grand hotel in its time. The staff are friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast in the Milner room is fantastic with a tremendous selection catering for all tastes. The overall ambience of the hotel from the peaceful lounge, the smell of the cigar room, the cozy pub and the grand staircase is one of calm and tranquility. The rooms are grand and comfortable. My stay was relaxing and enjoyable, just as I had hoped.

Very Nice Stay

Pros: The character, the history, the quietness, the amazing breakfast
Cons: TV System, picture needs to be clear and have a decent selection of premium channels such as Discovery Channel, History Channel etc.
Location: Centrally located in the middle of Johanneburg
I loved this hotel and I stay a lot on hotels, it is set in the middle of Johannesburg but you would hardly know that, the hotel is surrounded by big well established gardens. There is no noise, no cars, no police sirens, no disco's banging away, just lovely blissful silence. The hotel structure is old but well maintained, the rooms we had were big and spacious compared to anything that I have recently stayed in, you can swing a tiger by its tail and not hit anything. I had one light in the bathroom malfunction and reported it whilst going to breakfast, when I got back to the room 20minutes later it was repaired already, very fast and efficient. The breakfast is fantastic, good selection for any taste. The only complaint that I have is the television system in my room, the channel selection was not very good, and 3 days into the stay even CNN was unavailable. The pictures of all the available channels were not clear but it might have just been my room. I hope that I will get a chance to spend more time at this hotel in the future.

Pros: The room.
Cons: Too reserved

It's homely. Ideal for a quiet family holidays. The route to some of the hotel rooms needoverhead cover. It's not fair to expose clients to harsh weather conditions.

Pros: Staff helpfulness. Great breakfast.
Cons: The lift.
Location: Great, but drive into reception lobby is very sharp and tricky.
Hotel location, very convenient. Staff always listening and ready to help, very friendly and cautious. Regularity of room maintenance, very good. Overall, hotel now needs of total refurbishment to meet 21st century standards, especially the lifts in main block.

A bad experience for a tourist.

Your information said they provided airport pickup free as part of the hotel service. They don't. I paid $50 per pickup for me and my daughter and for me back to the airport for a total; of $150.00. Internet srvice only works in the lobby. The front desk are non responsive and act like they don't understand what is being asked. my daughters meal the first night was not good. She got another hotel because of the poor service. It took them an hour and a half to pick me up at the airport. In fairness to the dinning room staff their service was good. The grounds are lovely and the building is from a pAST period but in good condition. It is not a hotel for tourist like me. It is most likely best for business clients only given all the offices in the area.
