Comfortable stay

Posted Mar 9, 2016
Overall a solid stay. The only lacking factor for me was that there was no fridge in the deluxe King room. Thought that should've been standard. Also - the trains were loud and ran all through the night. Very disturbing

Thank-you for taking the time to respond to your stay. The good news is very soon, Battle Creek, will implement a "Quiet Zone" for the trains coming through downtown. This will go a long way in cutting out the noise your heard. I hope you get another chance to stay with us should your plans permit you to be in Battle Creek. Safe Travels. Newly weds dream

Posted Mar 6, 2016
Pros: The Staff! really made this a memorable and fun stay
Cons: only the weather a sunny day would have been great to walk around downtown Battle Creek,
I was my new wife's dream to one day stay at the McCamly Plaza Hotel, she was born and raised in Battle Creek, So instead of going home and before we could depart on our honey moon we stayed a night at the McCamly Plaza Hotel. We were treated great by the staff, they even brought us delicious chocolate strawberries and a bottle of sparkly grape juice to celebrate, remembering that I had told them my wife was pregnant, we enjoyed looking out the window of the City of Battle Creek, at a cold snowy time of the year. The staff were great! The Valet brought us a warm car to the door with a pleasant conversation while we were waiting very knowledgeable of the city providing directions and ideas of where to go and dine. In the morning we had a great breakfast right downstairs. With more friendly service!

Thank-you for taking the time to give us some feedback on your most recent visit. The City of Battle Creek is working on implementing a "quiet zone" for the trains coming through town. This requires significant expenditures into replacing all of the crossing guards in downtown. That project is scheduled to be completed by December 2016.

It was cheap

Posted Feb 29, 2016
Not a bad price but when we arrived they didn't have the room I had reserved and I was downgraded to a smaller room without so much as an apology . They didn't even know we were coming and said they had that problem already that day with Expedia. It was good for the price I paid, $88 total, but I expected more because of the pictures and I didn't get the room that I ordered and apparently was lucky to even get one, since they had no record of my reservation. Meh. We still had a good time and it wasn't 300 bucks.

great hotel for the price

All was great (room, staff, etc.)!! Only issue was there was no info about the hotel or surrounding area in the room. Front desk staff had to bring us the room service menu -- that seemed strange to me!!

Thank you staying at the McCamly Plaza Hotel during your last visit to Battle Creek. Yes, the trains noise and sometimes be an issue. I am happy to say that Battle Creek in implementing a "quiet zone" for trains this year which means they will be able to pass through town without blowing their horns. I hope you give us another change during your next visit.

Nicest thing I can say is that it was clean...

Posted Feb 29, 2016
Pros: I am a business traveler. Wifi is essential; and their wifi was very strong.
Cons: Put in a gift shop, put vending on the floors, put in heating units made within the last 50 years; put better equipment in the fitness center...
Location: Battle Creek is a company town. If you need to do business in downtown, you can walk to most of those things from this hotel. No nightlife though
This is a large (16 stories) downtown hotel, with hundreds of rooms. It had one vending machine -- in a indoor lobby connected to, but not part of, the hotel (non on the floors!). It has an on-site restaurant with marginal food... It has no gift shop to purchase drinks, newspapers, shaving cream, etc. It is an empty downtown, but it costs $10 to valet park (or go another block to park yourself in a parking garage for $6). The rooms are clean, but the heating system is an old unit stuck under the window. If you have it on it is loud, and incredibly hot, not matter how you adjust it (so you are always too hot or too cold). In five day's there I had hot water one day -- the other four it was luke warm. It has a typical 40-50 cable channels set up on the tv, but half the time half the channels didn't work. The "fitness center" consisted of three machines: a treadmill, a elliptical and a bike-- the seat adjustment on the bike was broken. No weights. Their web site said mini refrigerators were available upon request -- even though I asked before I got there, there were "non available." Positives: pleasant and helpful staff (especially valet people); strong and free wifi in the rooms; good location if you are doing something downtown; rooms and hotel were clean; "business center" was a single computer connected to a printer in the lobby -- but it worked. It is connected indoors to a Starbucks. Bed was comfortable.

Thank-you for taking the time to give us your feedback. The hotel is soon becoming a major international franchised hotel and as such, several of the guest ameneties you mentioned will be included in the upgrades. Thank-you for your positive comments about our staff. They work hard everyday to make each and every customer satisfied. Robert Holsten General Manager

Disappointed

Posted Feb 26, 2016 on Hotels
I've stayed in dozens of hotels. I like to try to stay away from your typical franchise hotels. This was the worst I've experienced. When I arrived it had great vibes. Seemed nice, valet were awesome. Honestly the only bright spot. The girl at the front desk was nice enough to let us check in early. She didnt reccomend anything. Didnt pass along any information about anything local. Maybe said 20 words total. We arrived early because of a blizzard and wanted to beat the bad weather. After that it was down hill. We found two staples sticking out of the carpet with our bare feet. We headed down to the hot tub, which is an essential perk when staying away from home, we might as well have jumped in the snow bank. It was frigid. The pool wasn't any better. So we headed right back to our room upset. The overall feel of the hotel is hit or miss. Feels run down in parts and nice in others. We didn't eat at the restaurant because it didn't feel right. My final thought and where I feel we got our moneyes worth... the elevator.. it was something out of universal studios. Half the time we ended up on the wrong floor it made horrible noises and we weren't sure we would survive the ride. A rush for sure. Our next trip to battle Creek won't be spent staying here.

Decent enough, but I was expecting more

Posted Feb 19, 2016 on Hotels
We had reserved a king size bed but were moved to a room with 2 queens, which was disappointing. There was no literature in the room that told about the amenities in the hotel, or the surrounding area.
