HIDDEN GEMPosted Sep 19, 2015
Pros: Super quaint and cozy. Love the room names, we stayed in the Library. The hot tub on the roof was spectacular.
Cons: Hmmm, nothing!! Was a great time
Location: Never been to Kalamazoo before but the restaurants and brewery we visited were great! City was clean and easy to get around
On a whim, decided to book a 'castle' instead of a hotel for an overnight business trip. Didn't have nearly as much time there as I would have liked! It's beautiful, staff was friendly, what an unexpected surprise. Am currently making plans to spend a weekend here for pleasure.

Not worth the moneyPosted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: The Castle was clean and very beautiful. The staff was friendly. We loved our tour guide, Alexander.
Cons: The prices are for the tour and wine tasting are extremely high for what you get. Also, the dining prices are very expensive for what you get.
The castle itself is beautiful. We took the tour and wine tasting, which was way, way overpriced. However, our tour guide, Alexander, was amazing. He was the best part of the whole trip. We waited over an hour for our lunch. There excuse was they ran out of printer paper so the order wasn't received. Once the food came, it wasn't very good. We decided not to eat there for dinner. The continental breakfast was really good. It was worth the money....free. We stayed in the library. The room was clean and comfortable, but to light. Hard to sleep.

Romanic Luxury surprise in Kalamazoo!Posted Jun 28, 2015 on Hotels
Even though we arrived late we were very warmly welcomed. We enjoyed the private quarters and the romantic setting.

DisappointedPosted Jun 26, 2015 on Hotels
Beautiful place but it should be advertised as a entertainment venue that happens to have rooms. We arrived and there was a dinner party going so we had to go out for our dinner and when arrived home from dinner they were already setting up for a wedding. Again we had to hide in our room the rest of the night and in the morning until we left. Everything I go to a bed and breakfast for wasn't present. Very disappointing.

Quaint, friendly, and fun!Posted Jun 26, 2015 on Hotels
The owner and staff were so friendly! The atmosphere made it easy for all of the guests to socialize on the patio. Even the tornado warning was fun, thanks to our host!

Not impressed.Posted Jun 6, 2015 on Hotels
The staff was friendly enough. We didn't get an explanation of how any of the services worked at check in, just a list of things not to do for us to sign. Most of the rooms don't have showers only a bath tub. My room was covered in dust and we didn't even have towels in it and had to ask for some. Bed is so squeaky and uncomfortable. Just because its an old castle with a lot of history doesn't mean the room has to be dusty and unkept. Its not even really antiques in the rooms kind of just decorations and furniture youd find in a salvation army. It has so much potential but seems like it's all going to waste.

I had never stayed in an older home before, so this was a totally new experience. It was charming and I would stay again.

a total disappointmentPosted Apr 7, 2015 on Hotels
The outside of the mansion is beautiful and we had high expectations of our stay. When we signed in, we had to sign a 2 page list of what we should not do; otherwise pay a fine. When we got to our room, there were more warning signs of what not to do. I realize that this is a college town, but we are retired. We couldn't get the bathroom light to work, couldn't figure out how to turn off the light in the bedroom, when we turned off the tiny tv, it wouldn't stop glowing and the mattress was horrible. The serice in the restaurant was slow and the food wasn't hot. The morning coffee was made the night before and the first sip was barely warm. At check-out, I tried to share my concerns and the employee wasn't interested
