Nice place
The hotel is showing its age. The service here is great and I would definitely stay here again. The food service in the lobby restaurant takes too long for a quick lunch in between meetings. Not sure why it takes so long. The rooms are very clean and they have a nice size desk to work at. The bathrooms at least my room did not have any hooks for hanging things and no counter space.

This is an older hotel so the rooms are slightly smaller however the location is excellent and the rooms have great views. It is within 5 minutes walk of every site of interest in downtown Kampala. The breakfast is excellent with a huge buffet filled with many items. Multiple restaurants with excellent yet well priced options. The staff is amazingly helpful and polite.

Marginal Service for Relatively High Cost
Hotels.com listing showed “airport shuttle.” Did not say “available.” Gave impression it was a courtesy shuttle. After I arrived at the hotel, I was charged $50, an amount I later learned was one hundred to two hundred percent the “going rate.” Juice offered (and unfortunately consumed) was delicious, but made me sick within 30 minutes and for the next 24 hours. Elevator didn’t work consistently with room cards and attendant was unable to help. Staff never called back (despite assurances they would) when we called to inquire about a left behind personal item.

Poor room service - not thoughtful
All was great except room service was slow and they almost always forgot to bring something - which would then take time to bring up and by then the food was cold. E.g. pancakes without syrup, or food without ketchup etc.

Liked: Good pool and trainers in the gym, nice grounds and security, comfortable bed and rooms Disliked: Room had a mold smell, asked to change rooms for that reason but the second room also had the same problem. It's not the hotels fault but the noise coming from the "Rock" bar and grill across the street made it very difficult to sleep. It was every night (out of 4) until after 1am. A room on the quiet side wasn't available.

Appalling service; nightclub will keep you awake
I was not allowed to check in for nearly two hours after arriving at 18:15 in the evening on a prepaid booking. Then I was given the wrong type of room and told I would moved the next morning, and that I could leave my packed suitcase in the room. I didn't sleep much that night because the hotel has a NIGHTCLUB downstairs. After getting back to the hotel at 16:00 the next day, I had to wait another hour until I could check in. Room keycards are very prone to failure and felt like a lottery every time I left the room. I had to reactivate mine 3 times and I kept it away from my phone. People were having keycards reactivated every time I went pas reception. Laundry and other charges are extortionate. Rooms are quite tatty in places. I had to argue for 5 minutes to have someone else's café charges removed from my bill. I had not visited that café at all.

Hotel looks lovely from the outside and lobby is nice, outside landscaped terrace for cocktails and dinner is lovely. Staff was mostly very gracious and helpful. The rooms themselves are shabby, they have a sign they are redoing them so maybe it'll be better in future. My colleague and I each tried to take a bath and the water was deep yellow/brown our entire stay (opted for showers). We arrived at midnight from international flight and ordered dinner at the bar, plus mineral water. Took 30 minutes (!) to get mineral water and after an hour no food, we inquired several times and kept being told it was coming. At 1 am, they said "10 more minutes" but exhausted and hungry we went to our rooms, asked if they could bring it up. I finally gave up, went to sleep and put Do Not Disturb on the door. Then the phone rang later and woke me saying he was there to deliver my dinner. It was 2 am! Other than that very frustrating welcome, the staff was helpful. We only ate at the buffer after because we were afraid about the wait if we ordered a la carte.

Excellent Family atmosphere
I spent Christmas week there and was thoroughly satisfied. The hotel is quite luxurious. There is an excellent selection of cafes within the hotel premises and you can have a meal at a different place each time. The fitness center is very well equipped an the two instructors Richard and Kenneth are very willing to help. The staff were very friendly and even without prompting were willing to spend time with my daughter. Specific thanks goes to the Debra in guest relations and Winnie at the Victoria restaurant. On Christmas day were were surprised with a confectionery gift pack that was an excellent a gesture. On the whole I am totally happy with the experience. Will definitely come back
