Luxurious experience of missing past comfortsPosted Jun 11, 2016
Pros: The architecture, the cleanlilness, the pleasant service.
Cons: Provide refrigerator and coffee/tea making facilities in the bedroom. If there is no-one at the front desk to pick up the phone, re-direct the call.
The property is a beautifully restored old Chettiar home. The bedrooms had the look and feel of the past, but also the inadequacies: no coffee/tea making in the room, no refrigerator. The property is cosy and boutique-like, with only 15 rooms - which is too few to have a liquor licence. So you can't enjoy a beer on a hot day. The service is also slow, since the kitchen is far from the three locations at which meals are served. So, if you think modern comforts and rapid service are essential in a place you'd like to call home in this arid locale, this hotel isn't for you. However, if you want to experience life as it was a century ago in a wealthy Chettiar home, this is fabulous.

Fantastic Place to StayPosted Oct 18, 2015
Beautiful building, amazing food, tranquility and most of all, friendly and incredibly helpful staff - what more could you ask from a hotel? We had a great stay and wish we had planned to stay longer. A trip round the village on the hotel bicycles is well worth it!

An oasis in ChettinadPosted Aug 31, 2015 on Hotels
This is an amazing hotel. The holy trinity. Great ambiance, excellent staff and a nice restaurant. The cooking class was fun and informative. We loved our room and the walks through the village at sundown were lovely. The large pool is reverse osmosis and lunch by the pool was excellent. The family hospitality was what tied it all together to make for a perfect 3 day holiday.

The best welcomePosted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: The staff are brilliant, very friendly and will do anything for you. The hotel is wonderful, please please stay here if you are travelling in the area
This hotel is actually a home once owned and lived in by the very rich Indian business men of their time. This is a beautiful place to stay, from the moment you arrive and are greeted by the hotel staff to the breakfast you have in the gardens, this is the place to switch off the mobile and just lay back. Fantastic hotel.

Excellent hotel; Fantastic StaffPosted Dec 26, 2014
Pros: The staff, the rooms, the location.
Cons: probably nothing.
Location: There are many Chettiar mansions walking distance from the hotel.
Probably the happiest, most interesting and most professional place in which we have stayed across several trips to India. The rooms are enormous, the food is very good, but mostly the staff are exceptional and for once, well trained, confident and sensitive to their guests.

You wouldn't thinkPosted Aug 19, 2014
For me this is a 4 Star or more, possibly because of facilities it's been classed as Three star. However if you want comfort, huge rooms, the most friendliest of staff, beautifully maintained historic building that has a pool then this is the place to stay. You will be very surprised.
