Nice lodge, disappointing restaurants

Posted Oct 19, 2017
Pros: location, views
Cons: food choices, number of restaurants available, prices of food as one has to drive to reach other restaurants, which we didn't want to do
Location: beautiful location, didn't explore things to do nearby but went for lots of walks and enjoyed the views
Beautiful location but very expensive restaurants and very little selection of restaurants and menu selections. Actually landed up getting a free meal for 2 due to poor service. But I'd still go back, I love Kananaskis!

Anniversary Stay

Posted Oct 16, 2017
Pros: Location,
Cons: Meal prices and room amenities
Location: Very picturesque location among the mountains, lots of walking and hiking paths nearby. Very quiet and peaceful
It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived and were upgraded to a Deluxe newly renovated room. Very pleasing and comfortable. The room was cool when we checked in but seemed to get warmer as the evening went on. No thermostat that I could find. We reserved dinner for 7 and were wished a happy anniversary by the person who took us to our table . The waitress greeted us with a very pleasant anniversary greeting and brought us the wine list and again wished us happy anniversary once again which was the start of at least a dozen happy anniversaries from her. My wife ordered beef tenderloin and I ordered a t-bone steak. My wife said hers was excellent but mine was quite thin, about a half an inch and had gristle and sinews throughout. I was asked by a person in a suit about my meal and I told him I didn't enjoy it and the reason. He bought us dessert. Still don't know who he was. Back at the room the remote wouldn't control the tv from the bed so had to move closer to change channels. Used the Keurig to make coffee in the morning. Had to use water glasses held at the correct angle and place to get it to work. Nothing to stir coffee with.

Warm and welcoming staff, great customer service

Posted Oct 10, 2017
From the moment we checked in until the end of our stay we were very impressed with the friendliness of all staff working at this hotel. We spoke to the manager at the end of our stay and he relayed that there is a proactive training program where staff are taught to treat guest like they were family or friends. This program is working and I commend both management and staff for the results we saw in how we were treated. Food was excellent, common areas were inviting complete with a roaring fire. Even through the hotel pool area was under construction, this didn't take away from our experience.

Hotel full of dogs

Posted Oct 10, 2017
This is a nice hotel if you are a dog owner and don't have allergies or asthma. I was not aware that this was a pet friendly hotel nor was I told. We ended up on a pet floor and lucky for me and my allergies, I could leave the patio open the whole weekend so I could breathe better. There were dogs barking both at night and various times of day and they were EVERYWHERE. The indoor/outdoor hot tub was closed and that was very disappointing. Had we known that, we would not have gone. The rooms are nice and redone, but I won't stay there again unless on a pet free floor.

Theresa, Thanks for your comments, they are always appreciated. We are very much a pet friendly hotel set in the mountains with lots of glorious walks for pets and humans. I am sorry that the pet owners were perhaps less than considerate with controlling the barking, but there will always be dogs around this area. We do have a pet free floor available. please next time just ask to be placed on that floor. I am sorry about the hot tub, it is being completely rebuilt, the new one will be worth the wait for sure ! Thnak you again. Stephen

Thanksgiving

Great place for a family get-away. I loved all the renovations & looking forward to the hot tub area being finished. Only issue was that the room only has crazy thick pillows - great for decor but brutal for sleeping...I should have called the front desk

Nice hotel close to the mountains.

Posted Sep 25, 2017
Pros: The scenery was breathtaking, the hotel staff were fabulous. Meals were delicious.
Cons: Weather was cold, no place to buy a shawl except a store geared for hikers. Also no hair salon offered for wedding guests or brides.
Location: Beautiful location!!!
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding. The hotel staff was fabulous, the rooms were comfortable and the restaurants served excellent meals.

Excellent springboard to spectacular mountains

Posted Sep 21, 2017
Location: Hiking, horseback trail riding, hiking, hiking ...
Had a great stay. Despite the construction activity (new spa?), staff were accommodating and very friendly and helpful. Location and scenery were stunning.
