Overnight stay

Posted Jun 26, 2017
A busy weekend of travel for a family related as well as business items. Was very pleased with check in process, and comfort of rooms. Value of cost versus comfort is very good.

Too noisy to sleep

Posted Jun 5, 2017
Pros: The front desk staff were terrific and quickly responsive to needs like an extra pillow and a couple extra towels. Housekeeping staff were also great.
Cons: See above.
Location: We're from OP, so we were aware of all nearby attractions/amenities. Good location.
Maybe it was our room location (room 1021) but we could hear our neighbors in the adjoining room till just post midnight Saturday night. (They had visitors - no loud partying, just their conversation and laughing.) The elevator dings woke us till 2 - lots of children/young teens in the hotel and apparently allowed to "play" on the elevators. Since we had to be up at 6:30, we were terribly tired the next day. Very disappointed not to get a good night's sleep. Our room could use refurbishing - stains on the chair seat, stains on the bathroom tile. Bed mattress had seen better days. Things just looked rundown. We've used Doubletree in the past (inlcluding a stay at this property 8 years ago), but I'm guessing the "tournament ball" visitors have become the primary customers here, so we won't use this hotel again. However, if you're traveling with kids, perhaps this would be a great place for you since there are so many families using the property.

Warm cookies upon check in were great! Extremely comfortable bed! Clean room. ❤️ the handicap accessible bathroom/shower! Food at restaurant was excellent! Definitely would stay again!

This place needs an upgrade!

Posted May 16, 2017
The property is tired, rooms look like they haven't been remodeled in decades, and most of the machines in the gym aren't properly operating. Save your money!

Yes or No, depending on your needs

Posted May 8, 2017
Pros: Location, friendly staff, easy in and out, access to freeway
Cons: Update of rooms.
Location: We loved the Kansas City area. Truman Library in Independence and the World War 1 Museum downtown were excellent. So is the BBQ, train station.
Hotel staff were very friendly, check-in was quick, lots of parking, well located. . . there are many positives to this hotel. It is, however, quite dated and could use some upgrades. It is great for families. We encountered lots of sports teams staying there with their parents. It served our purpose for a quick trip to visit local relatives. We know that we have lots of options next time and will consider that, rather than staying in a vertical hotel and waiting for elevators, we may stay in a smaller one that is newer.

Location convenient to friends

Posted Apr 25, 2017
Pros: Location excellent for personal access to friends' location. Breakfast area servers were very pleasant and helpful
Location: Shopping/dining area at 119th st was excellent
Heavy registration/booking weekend owing to teen volleyball tournament in area but had minimal impact on our stay as well our coming and going. Parking was adequate given how busy the property happened to be.

Needs updating

Posted Mar 27, 2017 on Hotels
Hotel on outside was nice but the rooms are in dire need of an update. My room had old wallpaper that was peeling, ugly brown tile in the bathroom and carpet was worn. Being on a HH floor I would have expected better. Might reconsider staying at another hotel next time.

Good experience

Posted Mar 22, 2017
Pros: Breakfast - Room - TV
Cons: Pool area
Location: 3 Restaurants walking distance
Excellent experience except for the whirlpool and pool. Both needed extreme cleaning. The whirlpool also did not have explicit instructions on how to use it (that is the instructions that were posted had no items that matched the instructions). For example it stated turn a dial - there was no dial!!
