Nice hotel but needs more amenities

Posted May 27, 2015 on Hotels
Nice hotel but service was not what we had expected. Housekeeping didn't clean our room, exchange towels, make up beds, or empty trash so we had to call front desk when we returned to room at end of day. Had to ask for towels as there were 4 people in our room but only 3 sets of towels. Disappointed that there was a charge for Internet service, no complimentary newspaper, and no coffee in lobby. Waitress at breakfast on Monday didn't get our order correct. We have stayed at less expensive hotels and received better amenities. On the positive side, when we did request something, housekeeping was very quick in bringing whatever we had asked for, and staff was friendly. Beautiful view of lake from dining room!

Donald, Thank you for providing us with your feedback; it is integral to our goal of always improving our service and hotel operations. We are sorry we did not meet your service expectations and we apologize for that. We do provide daily housekeeping service so I do not understand why they didn't clean your room; did you possibly leave the Do Not Disturb sign on your door? As for the other aspects of your experience that you did not enjoy; we do offer complimentary WiFi access in our lobby, restaurant and bar. And you can also get complimentary WiFi in your guest room by simply meeting two simple criteria. We also offer complimentary U.S. Today newspapers Monday through Friday in the lobby; but if you'd like one left outside your door in morning, please let us know and we'll be happy to deliver it. Also, we do offer complimentary coffee in our lobby from 4:00 am until 6:00 am daily, and the coffee in your room is always complimentary. We hope you will come back and allow us to show you the Brilliant Service we normally provide. Thank you!

An unpleasant stay

Posted May 26, 2015
Bait and hook the trick. Free breakfast not for all travelers. Only for two adults. Asked for additional sheets and towels and blankets. No blankets wet sheets and wet towels delivered 60 minutes later.

The Kansas City Airport Marriott does not "bait and hook." There are many ways of including breakfast in your stay; you simply need to read the wide variety of options available online and choose which one meets your needs. After booking your reservation, a confirmation email is sent to you with all the details so you can ensure everything is to your liking before you travel. You can also always call ahead and we will be happy to go over your reservation details with you.

Disappointing

Posted May 25, 2015
Cons: The hotel needs refreshing and the breakfast staff needs to speed things up. There were long lines each morning while tables sat empty.
Location: There is nothing but the airport nearby. You will need to drive to do anything outside of the hotel.
Although this was rated 4stars by Expedia it is a 2 star hotel. Rooms are dingy, the windows are foggy, bathroom's have low dropped ACT ceilings and the air is stale. Internet only comes with a fee and the corridors were loud with guests. But I will compliment the desk staff who were very friendly and helpful. Unless you need a place to sleep between flights do not stay here.

Dear Dora, We apologize for not providing you with a better experience. While our goal is to always provide our guests with a memorable experience, we do want that to be a positive memory, which we obviously failed to provide and we are very sorry. We are not the most modern or luxurious hotel but we are working on many projects this year to improve and freshen our guest rooms and many of our public areas. We've recently freshened some of our rooms in the North Tower, bought new furniture for our Executive King Suites, replaced the carpeting in our lobby, and are about to completely renovate our Fitness Center. We have many other projects scheduled too, so we are quite excited by the changes that are coming and we hope you will come back to see the upgrades as they happen. We are confidant that, as these projects are completed, we will no longer be a 2, 3 or even 4-Star---we will be THE 5-Star Hotel in KCMO's Northland! Thank you.

Probably won't stay here again.......

Posted May 19, 2015 on Hotels
We chose to stay here for a quick family vacation and based on the previous reviews on Hotels.com, thought this would be a great choice. However, the elevator was out of order when we first arrived. The front desk didn't tell us that when we checked in. So, we had to find the stairs--carrying 5 family members bags and a cooler on wheels was not an easy task. Thankfully the elevator was fixed later that night. Also, the ice machine was broken on our floor, so we had to go to a different floor anytime we needed ice. Also, the beds were not very comfy and the room was small. Trying to fit 3 children into one bed was not easy. And to top it off, when we went to use the hotel pool, there was a Possum watching us from the outside window. He was still there the next morning. I will say I've stayed in nicer hotels than this one.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are sorry you did not thoroughly enjoy your experience with us. We have a total of four guest elevators, so if one of the elevators was temporarily unavailable, there were three other elevators to use. We apologize for the inconvenience. We also apologize for the ice machine; most floors have two ice machines so we are sorry for not informing you of this. Our room service department would have been happy to bring you ice to your room also. As for the possum outside, looking in at the indoor pool; we are not located in an urban setting, so we do sometimes have little furry friends come visit us; it is part of the charm of being in a rural area.

Somewhat satisfied

Posted May 14, 2015 on Hotels
I choose your hotel because it was the most expensive and then I had to pay extra for internet in my room. Less expensive hotels had free internet in the rooms. I travel frequently and this will impact staying in a Marriott. I don't mind paying more. I object to paying more and then being charged for extras

Thank you for providing us with your feedback and we apologize that you were not completely satisfied with your experience. We should have let you know at checkin that all guests can now get free in-room internet access by following two simple steps; we are sorry we failed to inform you of this.

A wonderful experience. Clean room and hotel. Comfy bed and plenty of room. When we asked the front desk about restaurants we were directed to a wonderful area for shopping, food, and entertainment!

Clean, but no hot water

Posted May 12, 2015 on Hotels
We stayed here one night before a flight out of the Kansas City Airport. On the positive side, the hotel was very close to the airport and the furnishings in the room were comfortable and clean. On the negative side, the carpets were pretty old and stained, and the hot water in the bathroom didn't work well. My boyfriend actually hopped out of the shower after about a minute and decided to go without one for the day because the water was freezing. If it were not for the water temperature issue, I would stay here again if I had a flight out of Kansas City.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback, Casey. We truly appreciate it! Please accept our apologies that you were not completely satisfied with your experience. We are currently working on various projects to update and/or deep clean all of our carpeting so it will be perfect for your next visit. And, as for the lack of hot water, we are sorry about that. Some of the rooms at the far end of the South Tower can take a bit longer for the hot water to reach them. We are working on solutions to that though; but in the meantime we do have to ask our guests to let the water run for a bit longer.
