Pleasant Surprise

Pros: 24 x 7 airport shuttle, efficient rooms, very nice staff and service.
Location: Not much out there to do as its North of KC, so one has to drive to do anything. But, for a close-to-airport, its the place.
I needed a "budget" hotel for a single night business trip, nothing fancy. The property exceeded anything I could imagine about a "budget" hotel. Excellent staff, attentive, professional and an excellent room. So much so that after missing my return flight, was relived they still had available and had the same experience two nights in a row. Want convenience, value, and comfort...Stay here.

Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: Staff should pay a little more attention to issues raised by the clients.
Location: OK. Location (near airport) is OK. But it is not near to anything else.
The location is OK if getting on or off an airplane is your goal. As far as nearby restaurants, exercise facilities, etc., this is not the place you want. The room was OK, but a loud "clicking noise" from the room above each evening was disturbing as I tried to go to sleep. I brought it to the attention of the front desk folks, but they did not even address it with me.

Pros: Staff was friendly.
Cons: Everything.
Before I booked this, I asked about a rumor of construction. I was told it had been done. Our room must have been missed. Breakfast was a joke.

Too close for comfort

Looked nice but it had bed bugs. When I told the manager they would get a hold of the general manager would not return my call. Only got refunded for one night! Stayed 3 nights.

Location: Place to eat and right at the airport
The room telephone did not work and was reported. Two TV, one did not work. The side door to enter in key door did not work and had to walk all around to the front to get back in to hotel. Needs major updates and more welcome appearance as you walk in and get rid of those bright old fluorescent lighting in lobby. Breakfast was very limited and cold, a real cheap set up. This place has a lot of potential if just some money would be spent on just making it inviting when you walk in and correct the little things around the place.

Extremely disappointed. Front desk clerk seemed rude during check in. Bedspread had a hole in it. I was charged a "pet fee" when in fact I had no pets. This is unacceptable!!

Pros: Convenience for travelers!
Cons: It's obviously a popular hotel and has accommodated a lot of lodgers. Attention could be given to minor bathroom repairs & carpet replacement.
Location: Very convenient to variety of tourist attractions, museums, etc. in the area!
Microtel Staff was very accommodating and helpful! We enjoyed the convenience of lodging near the airport.

Close to the KCI Expo Center

Pros: Close to the KCI Expo Center. Soft drinks in cans were available at a reasonable price in the vending machines.
Cons: Quality of continental breakfast and quality of room towels.
While the hotel staff were pleasant, the continental breakfast left much to be desired compared to other continental breakfast. Bagels were fresh, but there were no bananas for the cereal on my 2nd day there. No yogurt. Towels in the room were very thin. I didn't expect plush for the price I was paying, but I didn't expect them to be as thin as they were either.
