I had booked the room through Expedia, but the hotel still needed to place a $50 hold on a card. I had three different cards decline through their system, two of which had been used earlier that day with no issue. After the first decline on the first card, the front desk worker asked, "Well don't you just have cash?" This gave the impression that something was happening which was not above board. After three third card declined and he opted to manually enter the first card again, the hold went through. The next morning when checking out, I asked the front desk worker to ensure that the hold was released and outlined the problems that I had had the night before. He became a little upset stating that they were working with a new computer system and that if he was still learning the system then he couldn't expect his staff to know it right away. The charge for the hold did go through, but was immediately credited back by the hotel.
